Adult/High School—This is a unique take on a how-to book with its combination of sports, culture background, and quotes from skateboarding greats. Each trick is introduced with a brief history, including its inventor, and a brief description of it. Black-and-white photos of the trick being performed and more detailed instructions of how to complete the move follow. The book does not condescend to readers, and the pictures are more interesting than the illustrations in most how-to titles. Steve Badillo has coauthored three top-selling skateboarding guides, including Skateboarder's Start-Up, Skateboarding: Book of Tricks, and Skateboarding: New Levels. He has worked as a stunt double and actor in numerous commercials and films featuring skateboarding, including Lords of Dogtown. He lives in Ventura, California. Doug Werner has coauthored five skateboarding guides and a dozen other sport-instruction guides, including the Start-Up Sports® series. He lives in Chula Vista, California.

This book teaches the tricks that are cool and a crowd starter. It gives you the history of the trick and how to do the trick. If you are trying to learn tricks, I'd recommend this book. This book is a enjoyable read. I'd HIGHLY recommend this book.
