Cute Shoes -- but Not Enough Arch Support!, April 21, 2007
This review is from: Skechers Women's Luxe Mary Jane (Apparel)
I enjoy walking 2 miles everyday at lunchtime at work with my colleague, and I thought these shoes would be great for that purpose because they're cute, stylish, AND functional. Before that, I'd put on my old running shoes just for the lunch walk. I thought I could save maybe 5 minutes by not having to switch to another pair.
Well, it turns out that as cute and comfortable as these shoes are, they're not really made for walking. Walking around work and going shopping in them was fine, but walking just 2 miles in them ended up hurting my feet because of the lack of arch support.
I still wear these cute shoes to work, but I now change into my running shoes for the lunch walk. Not everyone may have the same problem, but I have neutral feet and a normal arch, and it still hurt me, so I thought I'd put in my $0.02.

Cute & functional, April 29, 2007

I ride my bike to work, and my backpack was overstuffed with work clothes plus a lunch AND shoes, so I really needed shoes that could do double duty. I have been very pleased overall with my Sketchers Luxe Mary Janes. They are sturdy enough to wear while riding a bike (and I go up and down hills and ride on busy streets), are comfortable without socks (even while riding the bike), and look FABULOUS when I get to work with my casual dresses and pants. The sole on the bottom of the shoe provides a lot of support. I have had to wear arch supports before, but I have not had to wear them in these shoes. I am on my feet all day as a teacher, but have not had any soreness. However, another reviewer said that they were not strong enough for a 2-mile walk, and I would have to agree with that. As comfortable as these shoes are, they are not really meant for pounding the pavement to that extent. I have had only one problem with the shoes: the right strap does not always stay closed. On that foot, the strap fits more snugly, and so if I should need to stand tip-toe or otherwise point my foot, the velcro doesn't hold fast. The left shoe does not have any problems, though. While it is probably just my own foot that is the problem, I wanted to warn shoppers that they may have this problem, too. Even so, I could easily buy more of these in different colors. I have had so many compliments on them, they are versatile and comfortable- these are a winner all around.

Cute and Comfy, April 22, 2007

I love these shoes. I get complements on them ALL THE TIME!! Now most of my friends own a pair after seeing mine. They are wonderful for walking around the mall, or spending the day at the Zoo, or working long shifts standing up , but they are not a replacment for regular tennis shoes when it comes to exercising. I love them though!!
