5.0 out of 5 stars great shoes!!!
I bought these shoes 1 month ago, I have a bad back and bum knees and a torn ligament in my foot that acts up alot. I have tried expensive orthodics in my gymers and that does not help. I was a little skeptical with the 120.00 price of these shoes- but found them for 100.00 and 10% off at shoe planet and also free s/h and no tax which brought my total to 90.00.Online the...

1.0 out of 5 stars Over-Pronator with Medium Arch
I had to return my Skechers Shape Up - Action Fitness shoes because my feet rolled inward too much. I replaced the insoles with Viscola Sport, which helped my arches, but didn't control over-pronating. I really like the idea of Shape Ups and wish they had worked for me.

You can definately feel the difference when you walk- my calves are sore when I finish - which never happend before, and i do notice more toning occuring. I am a thin person to begin with, but my theighs and calves wouldnt hurt to be more toned rather than the slight jiggle! Absolutely the best shoes ever- you wont be dissatisfied.

4.0 out of 5 stars Yes, I do feel some toning going on!!... Really, March 11, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I read the reviews on these and decided to try them. Most reviews talked about how comfortble these are just for wearing around. THEY ARE NOT to my feet. They make the bottoms of my feet go to sleep while walking, and are overall painfull to wear, especially at first (and yes they are the right size). Speaking of size, they are true to size as far as I can tell, so that should not be a concern when ordering without being able to try them on.

While many reviewers talked about not knowing if they were toning anything, I am convinced that they do indeed help tone your legs/butt. They also do promote good posture. When I am finished walking in them I notice a greater tightness in my lower regions than if I wear normal shoes.

The downfall for me is that they hurt my knees and feet. They do not provide any stability, so if you need that these may be bad for you as well. I feel as though I am slamming my feet down constantly and can't avoid it. I also get a feeling of hyperextention in my knees from they way the shoes make contact with the ground.

I do also notice that, physically, I cannot walk very fast in them so my heart rate does not elevate as much as when I can speed walk in my regular shoes. I would recommend alternating shoes.

I give them 4 stars because I believe they give a better muscle workout, and hope that others w/o stability issues can benefit from them.

I am going to give them a few more miles, but overall I think they are hurting me (orthopedically) more than helping me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Deff. worth the price, March 29, 2010
My bf and I first tried this style of shoe at a local KMart. The shoe there was really curved and the sole was so-so. It still for some reason made me curious to try some other brands esp. knowing that usually these shoes sell for a whole more then the $19.99 price tags that were on these. The next day I went to Khols and actauly surprised to see them there. Tried them on and instantly fell in love with them. They still had the rocking motion of coarse but unlike the ones at KMart I did not feel like I was going to fall over. Plus, they were so much more cushiony. I work in a clothing retail store on my feet on a super hard marble floor for 8-10 hours a day so when I get out I need something comfortable. These deffinatly did the trick. I then proceeded to just see what other brands had to offer after trying Avia, 2 other brands I cant remember and even Dr. Scholls, I came right back to these. Now, I cant wait till the Mary Janes actaully come out in stores so I can try those and not kill my feet at work. Over all, there was deff. worth the $80 price differance. None of the other brands even came close.

5.0 out of 5 stars I really like them!!, July 11, 2009
I ordered it and was pleasantly surprised to receive them the next day. I use them to exercise, walk in the park and at work and you really get a work out when you use them, I would really recommend them. The first few days you will feel achy and sore and probably should use them gradually, I wore them to work and I work a 12hr shift, so it was alittle too much at first, but I use them now without a problem now

5.0 out of 5 stars I Urge all To Buy, June 22, 2009
I just wanted to let all of you who are on the fence about buying these shoes, to let you know that they are so worth it. I got mine and I walked 3 miles the day I got them. I completely felt the burn in my calves, hamstrings and glutes. I think once I master them they will provide for some greater results. I will be buying every pair in every color. I can't wait for Skechers to broaden this line.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funnest Shoes EVER, May 13, 2010
I had been debating between these and the Reebok Tone Ups but when I tried them both on in the store, I was simply not as impressed with the Reebok's. I run everyday so I thought the Reebok would be better because they would share a dual purpose but then I figured that the Sketchers shape ups were just so much fun that I was willing to give up my new pair of running shoes. To be honest though, after trying on the Reebok's I'm not so sure I would have wanted to run in those either. I'd rather have the Shape Ups for walking around all day and a good pair of Aisics to run/jog in. The Sketchers make my feet feel amazing all day that I don't mind walking long distances in them at all! My back feels great and my posture has improved greatly. Sketchers also sell the Shape Up XF Accelerators which you're supposed to be able to "jog" in but when I tried them on in the store, they weren't as wobbly because they are lower profile (and hence not as fun) and they didn't seem like a good running shoe to me so why not just get the regular shape ups and have more fun, right?

They feel like platform shoes on a rocking chair but more stable; like there is a small ball on the arch of your feet that you have to balance on to build muscle. You just have to try it to really get the true feel of it.

They can look a bit goofy so I would stay away from the bright colors to minimize the visual attention.

AND, yes. I am seeing pretty good results so far but it's only been a few days. ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars Definately worth the money!, January 2, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have had these shoes for a little over a month now. I noticed a difference from day one. These are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. I usually have poor posture with the slouchy shoulders....with these shoes on, it is impossible to "slouch" they make you stand up straight! My back does not ache anymore, my feet do not ache anymore either. I am have noticed a measurable difference in my legs and butt area, definately more firmer. I have recently started doing intervals on my threadmill while wearing them, and you can really feel your muscles working! Makes me more motivated to keep going everyday! I will be definately buying another pair or two of the different styles!

These are great! I am on my feet all day and they do not hurt. At first my lower back hurt a little, but I think that was my body learning how to correct my posture. My husband says my bottom looks firmer too:)

5.0 out of 5 stars They're everything they say they are., March 25, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I recently bought a pair of Shape ups and the 1st thing I noticed was that my feet don't hurt anymore. The round bottom gives great arch support.
The 2nd thing I noticed was that I was feeling muscles working in my legs and posterior more than they have before.
The 3rd thing I noticed is that they are best used on level ground since walking on uneven ground can get a little tricky.
The 4th thing I noticed is that I wanted to walk further and longer and didn't need to stop and rest so often. Why didn't someone think of this idea before?!
They aren't for running, just walking, so if walking is what you want to do, definitely get these shoes!

PS. I also love the color. I got the gray and pink shoes. I wish they made a solid gray but these are still really cool looking shoes.

5.0 out of 5 stars new skechers the best, January 9, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I find the new skechers are much like the old earth shoes I had long ago. This fit well and are fun to walk around in. They do give your legs a work out, you don't want to put them on and go really far the first few times or your legs will hurt.
