5.0 out of 5 stars GREATEST SHOES EVER!
I am not athletic, I am overweight and would like to exercise, but my feet have hurt me for 3 years-ever since I fell and fractured my foot. I wear orthodics, but my feet still hurt me ALL THE TIME. I bought the Mary Jane Skechers and after two days wearing them, my feet completely quit hurting. I wore them to Las Vegas and walked the strip and still my feet did not...

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice, but not for everyone
When you lose a lot of weight, it's difficult to change decades of bad posture. I thought these would be good because heavy, and former heavy people, seem to stand with their hips forward and tummy out. When I lost weight I started wearing Earth Shoes because the lower heel forced me to stand up straight, but they weren't suitable for work. I thought Skechers used the...

I bought the Mary Jane Skechers and after two days wearing them, my feet completely quit hurting. I wore them to Las Vegas and walked the strip and still my feet did not bother me. My hip and my sciatic nerve also quit hurting. I am buying a pair in every color!!!!! If I get any workout out of them, that will be a BONUS!!! I AM JUST GLAD MY FEET DON'T HURT ANYMORE!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Go for the Sleek Fit instead, March 4, 2010

I purchased the Skechers Hydrate as well as the Skechers Sleek Fit. I wanted to get the Hydrate because it was entirely black, whereas the Sleek Fit has white accent stitching. I actually found that the Sleek Fit looks much nicer in person than the Hydrate. My co-workers also agreed that it was a cuter shoe. The Sleek Fit has mesh paneling on the sides, which I can definitely tell is more breathable than the leather on the Hydrate. The Sleek Fit definitely runs a 1/2 size smaller, but the Hydrate does NOT run small. I normally wear a size 8.5 or 9, and I ordered both styles in 9.5. The Hydrate was too big, while the Sleek Fit was just perfect. If you're also looking at MBT, I suggest the Kaya. Personally, I thought the MBT Kaya was much more cushioned and had a lot more of the rocker action than any of the Skechers Shape-ups I have tried.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very comfortable work shoes, May 10, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I just recently purchased these shoes after being impressed with the comfort of wearing the "Metabolize" style of sneaker for dog walking and shopping, etc... I ordered these since they have a more professional look than the sneaker styles. This is by far the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn for work. I am in the healthcare field and although it is a desk job persay, it involves alot of running up and down a long hallway repeatedly throughout an 8-9 hour day. The floors at the office are linoleum or in some areas, indoor/outdoor carpeting over concrete; very unforgiving surfaces. I also suffer periodically from tendonitis in my hips, (as well as a few other joint areas), and sciatic nerve pain on occasion. I have also had a long history of lower back pain and after wearing these shoes I can honestly say that my back no longer hurts at the end of the day. Whenever someone complains of back or knee pain, I tell them to get to the store and try on a pair of shape-ups, and walk a couple of laps around the store, they really do make a difference. Some complain about the price but I tell them that after 20+ years of backaches and sore joints, they are well worth it. They do run true to size. It was very helpful though to be able to try on any style of shape-ups at a shoe store before ordering them online. It was great to get SuperSaver shipping on these too, and I got them in about 5 days after ordering.

I thought Skechers used the same principal and was excited to try them out. They looked & felt great, but when I took a few steps, the spongy arch offered no support and they seemed to collaspe inward. My ankles turned in and down, and I knew it was only a matter of steps before I sprained my ankle or back. So, into the box and back to Amazon they went.

I may try a lace up style for walking, if they have a harder sole, but the Hydrate is wide and squishy. I'm happy for anyone who finds them comfortable but they don't support the bones and tendons in my feet, and I don't wear orthodics. I would suggest going to a store and trying different styles before buying.

4.0 out of 5 stars almost perfect, November 7, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've worn these shoes for 3 days now. I work in a large retail showroom. I have had terrible knee pain, ankle pain and plantar fascitis. Typically after work I go home, sit down and nurse my pain til I go to sleep along with taking ibuprophan 2-3 times a day. After the first day of wearing these I went home, NO PAIN. I walked around my house like a normal person. The only thing I don't like is the strap. It's rough on the side that touches your foot. I live in Florida so I don't wear socks. Also the strap the comes from the outside of the shoes is thick and does not go all the way across the foot so when you run the velcro strap from the other side over it, it presses the end of that thick strap down into the top of your foot. Not comfortable. The second day I loosened up the strap so it was less painful but then the shoe felt sloppy and I had a little pain when I got home. I like the shoe enough and I don't want to pay for shipping again that i am probably going to take them to the shoe repair and have something softer put on the bottom side of the strap like a microfiber.

5.0 out of 5 stars Black Skecher's Mary Janes, September 22, 2010
The shoes are very well made and comfortable. They help with my heel pain because they prevent my putting weight on the heel as much. They vendor was quick to reply to my request and shipping went smoothly. Thanks!

I was so excited to use these shoes for work! I could tell I was standing up straighter but I guess it was overextended bc my back went out and I had to see the chiropractor ASAP. I didn't wear them for a week, then I tried them again, the same thing happened and I had to return to the chiropractor. I had to return them. I wished they would have worked for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars very comfortable, July 2, 2011
By
I recently purchased a pair of these shape ups. I was looking for a shoe with the comfort of a sneaker and the style of a mary-jane. While at the store, I tried on a number of shoes, but these ones were much more comfortable than any of the others. I love to walk, and these shoes make walking even better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great shoes at a great price, March 3, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I used to wear MBT shoes all the time. A shoe much like this one has been discontinued. I walked 7 miles on cobblestones and I often travel with such a shoe--very comfortable. I was looking for a substitute for the MBT shoe that I loved and which cost about $255 per pair. This one is reasonable in cost and feels the same. The top seems even more durable than the MBT one and it doesn't get as scuffed.

My only critique is that it doesn't have much arch support. I solved that issue by buying some cork insoles from a really good shoe store. They cost almost as much as the shoe, but now I have extra padding and a great arch support.

I have a right foot that is misshapen from an accident 15 years ago. It healed with bones going in all directions and cannot be fixed. Without such shoes I am in terrible pain. With them, it solves my issue.

They are also easy to get off and on in airport security with the velcro strap closure. I am buying a second pair right now so I have a backup.
