5.0 out of 5 stars some dug up hits from beyond the grave...
I heard this album was going to be more "personal", so I started thinking Wednesday was going to go more towards a different end and almost lead off from where Fang Bang ended...and I sure the hell am glad he didn't!!! This album is quite different indeed...for only 8 bucks at Hot Topic, I was blown away! I shoved it in the stereo in my car and was just about to change...

3.0 out of 5 stars amazing cd, disappointed in softcover
i couldnt wait for this to come in, then i got it in the mail and it wasnt a hardcover case :/ and to make matters worse it didnt even come with lyrics.. i was really upset.. just a cheaply made paper-like case.. but wednesday 13 is amazing, guess you cant argue that this cd is way too hard to find to care what version you have.. 3 stars just cause the softcover.

I shoved it in the stereo in my car and was just about to change the 1st track...until...51 and a half seconds into the 1st track I heard this explosion of heavy rock! Well...heavy for Wednesday 13. I was wicked surprised by this release...I heard it was going to be more heavy as well and it sure lived up the word! I got goosebumps from hearing "Scream Baby Scream" for the very 1st time and it wasn't the last either. It seems more dark than the Transylvania 90210 album, which is something which I was dying for...The really standing out tracks would be...well...the whole entire cd actually...The wait for it was definitely worth it and I can see it being in my cd player for the whole summer...or probably until I'm in the grave...all in all though, a very fantastic piece of work consisting of heavy vocal singing, thrashing guitars, skillful drums, and a fantastic bass...can't go wrong with this one folks...

5.0 out of 5 stars Ghoulscout's Review, September 4, 2008
This review is from: Skeletons (Audio CD)
First thing to really point out: "THIS IS NOT A TWISTED SISTER ALBUM." Whoever put that as it is on Amazon must change it quickly. This is by Wednesday 13; who is a fan of Twisted Sister though.
This is the third solo album of Wednesday 13 and it's just as cool as the first two albums. But this one has a new tone to it. The music is heavier and the themes are more personal. I have read from his myspace and other interviews that he had battled alcohol and depression while recording this album. Even when he was recording, he would wake up from drunken state and find out that he recorded a whole different song than he originally wrote. You can hear that in the lyrics.
While the horror theme is still there, Wednesday used this to describe his personal life. This includes tracks such as "Skeletons", "My Demise", and "Dead Caroline." Wednesday really opens himself up in this new musical artwork. I hope the latter becomes the first single and gets a music video.
Before I depart, I might want to point out that with this new album out, Wednesday has another treat for the ghoulscouts worldwide: the EP, "Bloodwork." There were a few songs that Wednesday felt weren't fitting on the album. So, instead of releasing them as scattered hidden tracks, he put them all together on one piece and it came out at same time of "Skeletons." This EP includes a re-recording of an old song, original horror rock, acoustic versions of two Skeletons songs, and a cover of Tom Petty's "Running Down A Dream." He knows what we all want.
I now leave you all, hoping this will help you understand the product and purchase it. Thanks to Amazons and thanks to Wednesday 13. Anything associated with him is fantastic. Check out his myspace to hear the music of "Skeletons." Enjoy.
"And Edward shaped the bush into me."

5.0 out of 5 stars What a change!, July 9, 2008
This review is from: Skeletons (Audio CD)
Wow...I always loved The Murderdolls more than Wednesday 13's solo career, until I got this cd. The tour with Alice Cooper really changed him. It sounds so much like Cooper's "Brutal Planet" and "Dragontown" albums. I hear Cooper in EVERY song on this disc. This album will shock you! It still has the same shock value as all the other Wednesday albums. Except this one is just way more prepared, way more gifted, and way more heavy! Wednesday always had a punk sound to their music, but this cd strips most of that down, and rebuilds it in a more metal fashion...and it works! And the guitar solo's are better than ever...listen to it for proof!

"Scream Baby Scream" is a long itro'd track that quickly erupts into a great metal track...here is where you notice the great change in the Wednesday 13 band!

"Not Another Teenage Anthem" isn't to far off his older work. It's a great rocker that would remind you of something from "90210"....but with better lyrics.

"Gimmie Gimmie Bloodshed" is another classic Wednesday styled song, except with of course, darker sounding guitars. Definitely a concert pleaser.

"From Here to the Hearse" is a different styled song all together...with the classic Wednesday sound, it mixes with a modern day poppy sound...but the lyrics are great...and it will make you sing!

"Put Your Death Mask On" is so insanely heavy! This song will make you bang your head, and possibly break everything around you! WOW! I could not believe this was Wednesday 13 when I first heard it. This is my favorite heavy song on this disc. This will be the best song live I would think...I could see a crazy pit to this track...and neck-breaking head banging going on.

"Skeletons" is tied with "Put Your Dead Mask On" as my favorite track on this disc. It is greatly written...but I can't help to wonder where the piano and guitar riff are from...it sounds awfully familiar, but regardless...this song rocks. It's a great calm song...and the lyrics are amazing... Wednesday's best; if I'm not mistaken...

"My Demise' sounds almost like an 80's ballad with a modern day twist....it's a remarkable track, honestly. He proved himself a way better musician than I ever gave him credit for in the past. It just goes to show, through all the harsh, shocking lyrics, he always writes...there is a great deal of true life sequences going on in his head as well...its great to have him put them on paper.

"With Friends Like These" is very predictable...but his voice sounds quite amusing here...along with the lyrics. It's pretty much typical Wednesday 13.

"No Rabbit in the Hat" rocks hard! It sounds a little like older Wednesday, but a lot heavier...and these violent lyrics really amaze me...they're better than his predictable lyrics on previous records...and for you people who love his music for the naughty language (lol), you'll get plenty of that in this violent track.

"All American Massacre" is a mix between Wednesday 13 and Rob Zombie. I hear an inspiration from Ozzy in this track...and I like it a lot. This is what Rob Zombie should sound like now. I love this song a lot! It will have you bobbing your head and chanting "ALL AMERICAN...MASSACRE!"

"Dead Carolina" is another really heavy track that leaves the listener wanting more! It has, like all the other tracks, an Alice Cooper sound. It seems almost melodic from the beginning, but it will rip your face right off! Near the end...Wednesday growls more than you would ever hear from him anywhere else as he sings, "D.E.A.D. Carolina". It's a great, heavy melodic track...and a great way to end this amazing album!

Purchase this! It's a must! And Amazon is the place...this album is hard to find.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wednesday 13 goes Metal, May 14, 2008
This review is from: Skeletons (Audio CD)
Skeletons is -after Transylvania 90210 and Fang Bang- Wednesday 13's third solo CD, and it's much more "metal" (not only on "Put Your Death Mask On") than its predecessors. Of course, the usual horror references/violence scenarios are abounding ("Gimmie Gimmie Bloodshed", "All American Massacre", "Scream Baby Scream", "From Here To The Hearse", "No Rabbit In The Hat"). However, this album is more mature than the previous ones. With the rather quiet title track "Skeletons" and the ballad "My Demise" Wednesday 13 shows that he indeed can take a more serious line. "Dead Carolina" and "With Friends Like These" don't belong to the nonsense section, either. Even some kind of social criticism can be detected ("Not Another Teenage Anthem"). It is always nice to see that a musician can develop/mature without abandoning everything for which he was liked.

While I believe that Transylvania is probably Wed13's best work outside of the Frankenstein Drag Queens, I would suggest this to only more experienced fans that get his sense of humor. Otherwise a good album with much musikal substance able to hold it's own sound against a world filled with faggot boy bands and nu-metal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Underrated, September 7, 2009

Wednesday 13 commented on the title by saying that this is a more personal album with songs that have been haunting him for more than three years. This is dark metal to its core, if you like Zombie, Manson, then this will be your thing.

ok i will be honest i love W13 and i like the frankenstein drag queens as well but for those who want to look in on W13's solo work post Murderdolls i'm pretty sure this is his best one yet from the scream baby to dead carolina it is bad a** i love it and for those who like the band Dope will like this album even though these two bands are rivals but i think the horror movie buff and rock fans should like this one but if you are unsure about W13's solo work and you have'nt heard any of it and i highly recommend this one!
