The layout of the of the incrementation is very good and better than other tapes. I have not compared accuracy, though.

The awkward thing is that yes it's big enough so you can jot numbers down on the front but it's a bit bulky. I wish it had a slot for a pencil since it's so big, at least a small one and it's housing is not going to survive many falls, so it's still a little gimicky unless you could really use it for writing down a lot of measurements. The rub and erase does work.

I bought a couple of these when they were on sale. They are holding up well and they function as advertised. Now if they would just add an electronic pencil finder to it this tool would be perfect!

I have dropped it a couple times from the attic through the ceiling framing to the floor below and much to my surprise it has survived the falls without any damage. The plastic on the case has held up better than I would have expected given the moderate price.

The ones that I bought have a red plastic case. I think the gray case on the newer model is an improvement it should be easier to read when marked on. Hunter orange would be better yet and easier to find at the job site. I am a little color blind so the red doesn't stand out for me and I am always loosing it.

I recently used mine for measuring in an attic to add additional bracing to a 70 year old sagging roof. Every brace was a different length. It was handy to have something to write on. In the time it took me to climb down from the attic, and walk to the saw and lumber pile I would often get distracted and forget what the length was supposed to be, lets see was the last brace 43 ¾ and this one is 44 ¼ or is it visa-versa...hmmm senior moment. Before I started writing them down I sometimes had to make an extra trip up into the attic to verify the lengths.

I ordered one of these when it was on sale for $3, and it probably was still a waste of money. I haven't used the sketch feature, but that's because the first time I tried to use it, I could tell that it was very cheaply made and the way they have the inches marked on the tape is difficult to read.

Feels nice in hand, a little bulky. Like the fact that I can write on it.

tend to retrack on its own with brute force, it hurts mad if you don't let go quick.
