Book Description

August 15, 2012
Sketchtravel is an artistic journey unlike any other. No editorial project has ever before brought together as many visual artists around a common object. Passed between 72 artists over 5 years and across over 35,000 miles, the Sketchtravel sketchbook showcases the creativity of artists in numerous disciplines from around the world. Illustrators, animators, painters, and more each illustrated a page with their unique style before passing the book to the next artist. Reflecting a who's who of popular contemporary artists, this imaginative diverse collection of artwork will inspire art lovers with its scope, diversity, and beauty, much as it did each artist who contributed a link in its chain.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Sketchtravel is a beautiful reproduction of the art as well as photographs of all of the participating artists. "
-SuperPunch

" If you're a fan of many of the artists or just want a dose of inspiration, though, Sketchtravel is a must-own. Seeing so many people come together out of a pure love for art is something special, and the end product is just as invigorating."- Upcoming Pixar

"It's a gorgeous collection of material and great way to celebrate the artists represented. These include Hayao Miyazaki, Frederic Back, Bill Plympton, Enrico Casarosa, Bill Pressing, Peter DeSeve, Ronnie Del Carmen, Glen Keane, Nicolas Marlet, Mike Mignola, Lou Romano and many many others. It's truly inspirational stuff. Highly Recommended!" -Cartoon Brew

5.0 out of 5 stars A special book. August 21, 2012
By MicJap
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a copy of original sketchbook that traveled around the world by well-known artists, handed hand by hand. At a first glance, it feels like a book that just contained a collection of random sketch that really different each other and almost no connection on it. BUT on contrary, this red sketchbook is about FRIENDSHIP or collaboration between each artist that connected somehow. This book unify great people in illustration, animation, and painting to do a sketch. Each artist have different background, approach, feeling, technique, problem, and thoughts. In form of sketchbook, this project feels so personal. However, this sketchbook are CHALLENGING, because usually a sketch are rough, not completed ,but when draw in same book with other great artist it might be a nightmare or an excitement.

The main purpose of the sketchbook is for children in Cambodia, Laos, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Vietnam to help them get access children books or library.

This book is INSPIRING, and really good to know more of each artist.(recommended to visit sketchtravel.tv to know more artist's background).

The price of the book is worth for me, especially for great effort of each artist and for charity.
The book have a good cover and nice paper and print.
