This review is from: Skeul an Tavas: A Cornish language coursebook for adults in the Standard Written Form with Traditional Graphs (Cornish Edition) (Paperback)
When I was doing my family tree, I saw that my ancestors from Cornwall spoke Cornish which got me wondering what this language was like and wanting to have an experience in the language. I had heard that thre was such a language but I never realised it was spoken into relatively modern times. This is an easy book to follow and gives one a good basic experience of the language without being overly grammatical. I quickly developed some basic language skills. I learnt that when the ancestors wrote that they worked at Whel Vor they meant that they worked at the Mine by the Sea. I also learnt that an female ancestor who had the prename Lowr, had a name meaning happiness. Highly Recommended for those who would want to have a low cost and easy to understand peek at Cornish. Dha Weles ! Malcolm.
