This is a high quality exact replacement cord for the worm drive Skil saw. I have the older saw that is all aluminum and this fit exactly. You need to reuse your double thick rubber strain relief that the cord goes through at the handle. This is the cord only, with crimped eye connectors to connect to the switch and ground inside the handle. Remember to only unscrew the right side of the handle to replace the cord. Leave the 2 big screws that hold the handle to the saw in place on the left side.

This is an exact-fit replacement for my Skil 77 worm drive saw. My strain relief (Bosch 1619X02971) was cracking and deteriorating so I changed that as well - 6 or 7 bucks if I remember correctly. The strain relief is an old-school design that actually works (unlike many of the ones on the new tools) and will keep the cord from failing where it enters the saw. They have it on Amazon.

To replace the cord, you have to remove 4 shoulder screws that hold the handle to the metal saw body. On my (24 year old) saw, these screws were seriously stuck. I had to use an impact driver (manual) to get three of the four loose. One of the screws was so tight the impact tore up the head a little. It happens. So I recommend you loosen the screws before ordering; if you damage any, you can order the shoulder screws at the same time. In my case the damaged screw head was still workable. There's a Bosch (they now own Skil) service place not far from here, so next time I'm out I'll pick up (or have them order) a replacement screw.

The Skil 77 is an old-school tool that is designed to be repairable - and is worth repairing. It is built like a tank, was designed for use on a construction site, and you can't kill it. I am not a construction worker, but I do massive renovations as sort of a hobby. I work my tools hard and only use pro grade stuff. Milwaukee, Porter Cable and Dewalt are now imported, and while still pretty good stuff, imo they are in no way as rugged as they were back in the day. I consider them throw-away tools. But not my Skil 77. I have no idea where the Skil 77 is manufactured these days (mine is made in USA), but I think the design is more or less the same as the old ones. Great, great tool for framing or other construction use. The blade speed of a worm drive is on the slow side so it isn't the best choice for finish carpentry - look at the left side blade non-worm Milwaukee for that application.

Good, high-quality rubber and conductors on this cord. While my old cord was, well, old and was cracking a bunch, I think it was similar to this when first new. This is a great quality cord - no problems at all.

Nice beefy cord. One other comment mentioned that they had to trim the wires, and re crimp them. They obviously didn't know what they were doing . These wires fit fine, you just need to arrange the wires a bit. 100% Satisfied

This replacement is as the original. That is all that was expected. The only improvements that could be made is a better quality rubber which would last longer. And actually, I will not know if it is that or not until 4 or 5 years pass by.

Fast shipping, reasonable price.

This is the second one I purchased, the first went into a model 77 Skil, this one into a Dewalt 1/2 drill whose cord disintegrated, it was very poor quality rubber. I had to modify the Skil cord by cutting the terminals off and shortening the hot and neutral leads a bit, clipping some of the copper strands off and soldering the tips for insertion in the Dewalt but it will be much better than the original #16 awg wire used by Dewalt. This Skil replacement cord is a much higher quality rubber with the larger #14 awg copper wire .
