No home or workshop is complete without at least one dependable and powerful cordless drill/driver. Skil's 2487-05, 3/8-inch keyless chuck drill/driver has a 2-speed gear box that lets the user to shift from high speed drilling to high torque for driving screws or bolts. The gear change lever is located on top of the tool housing above the two-finger variable speed trigger. There is also a handy forward/reverse feature just above the trigger so that you can switch direction without changing your grip and a forward/reverse indicator light on top of the housing. In addition, there is a built-in bit index and bit storage compartment on top of the housing making the 2487-05 a very useful multipurpose tool.
The drill/driver is powered by a 12-volt Ni-Cad battery which gives the user power and extended battery life. The battery slides easily onto the bottom of the tool giving the drill/driver optimum balance.
Included with the 2487-05 is an extra battery, a one-hour charger and carrying case. --C. Dwight Barnett

The tool performs well, good torque when you need it and fast enough on the high speed. I was somewhat surprised that the batteries do not maintain charge. So, I learned to keep one always charging. That works well.

We bought a new home, and needed a drill for light use around the house. It does a good job, no complaints with this drill. Might not be suited for commercial use, but for small jobs it is just fine!
