Powerful Drill / Driver, March 5, 2009
I bought this for a small remodeling project that involved driving 50 3" stud screws (which I did not want to do by hand). I have a small B&D electric screwdriver which is pretty good for assembling furniture, but it proved useless this time.
This 18V Drill / Driver is amazingly powerful. It drove 3" stud screws straight into solid wood like a knife on butter (with no pilot holes). It's powerful enough that it turns your wrist around once the screw is fully tightened.
It has a built in LED light that shines right on the work area, which I found very useful as some of the driving was done inside cabinets. Also the battery indicator is very helpful. Being the new Li-Ion battery technology, you can't go wrong.

Amazing value, nearly perfect drill !, February 23, 2009
This cordless drill is incredible. The weight is amazing, about 0.1 pounds less than my old B&D 9.6V drill, yet it feels much more substantial in the hand. The ergonomic design is perfect, feeling incredibly balanced, and with all controls ideally placed. All controls feel high quality, with very positive operation. The LED light is great and really helps illuminate the bit, even in lighted rooms (probably no use outside). The battery charge indicator built in is great. Compared to my old B&D 9.6V, the battery life is amazing. Even though I only typically use it for screwdriving, it seems to last at least 10 times longer. I have been looking for a drill with more power, better battery life, and no extra weight, and this is the one! I also like the little forward/reverse lights on the top to indicate the direction. I like that you can charge the battery without removing it from the drill. You can charge the battery separately, if you want to get a spare.
The only downsides are that it doesn't have a bit holder, as another reviewer mentioned, and there's a slight delay between fully depressing the trigger and starting of the motor. It's not long, about 1/3 second, and you quickly get used to it. The lights do illuminate immediately (LED, battery charge level, and direction). If you just lightly hold the trigger, you can keep these on without actually spinning the bit. Anyone who's used to prefocusing a digital camera will find this completely natural.
The best part of this drill is that I got it on sale at Lowe's for $50! They said the normal price was $60, which already seemed good for lithium ion drill of this quality. But everywhere else it was $100+ (more what you would tend to expect). I was kicking myself for not buying two. Then, I found another one at the same Lowes this week for only $45! This has got to be the best deal going in drill-dom! Even reconditioned units are going for over $90... I don't get it, but thank you, Lowes!

Burned up, May 19, 2009
Be aware of this drill it will burn up and quite possibly cause a fire. I have used this drill no more than 10 times before it burned up. I would not recommend this product. It is a danger to personal safety as well as property. This is not the first review with a problem of this nature, that says something for the product design, there is fault in either design or manufacture.
