Great Drill, minor quirks
Good news - Fast charge, powerful, love the extra handle, love the light, stud finder is handy. Bad news - The drill seems to slide from forward / reverse in to neutral easily. Either I'd bump it or it would just move. When you line up to drill and it doesn't start, then you have to bring the drill down, shift it back in to gear, and then re-align. Not a big...

great drill, weak battery
I've had this drill for a couple of years now and use it about once a month on small woodworking projects. I really like the way the drill performs for the most part, but the battery life is bad. I have two batteries, which is good because they don't last long. This weekend I changed batteries after about every 5th or 6th hole I drilled. Nothing fancy, 3/4 inch deep holes...

Not at all impresed, March 31, 2011
This review is from: Skil 2887-06 18-Volt 3/8-Inch Drill/Driver Kit (Tools & Home Improvement)
The batteries on the SKIL Xdrive series are a pain in the rearend to get off! I am a woman and I use powertools often in the house, the drill most often but I use the saw as well and I have to wait for my husband to get home from work to get the battery off. And he has problems with it too. I want a powertool that is easy to use and that includes changing the battery. I do like the overall feel of the drill as well as the light that is on teh drill that helps when working in darker places.

I have two batteries, which is good because they don't last long. This weekend I changed batteries after about every 5th or 6th hole I drilled. Nothing fancy, 3/4 inch deep holes in the end grain of some spruce. A new battery lists here for $50, so I think I'm headed back to a corded drill. I don't like spending more time charging my tools than using them.

Not a big deal, just a little annoying!
