Powerful Drill for Tough Jobs
Built for tough applications, the Skil 6445-01 1/2-inch hammer drill features a powerful 7-amp motor along with a two-finger variable-speed trigger allows you to control the drilling speed with precision. The tool's 1/2-inch keyed chuck accepts larger-diameter bits designed for woodworking and cutting.

Comfortable and Convenient to Operate
The Skil 6445-01 1/2-inch hammer drill sports a rubberized handle for a secure, comfortable grip. A lock-on button, located on the bottom of the handle, allows you to run the tool at maximum RPM without holding the trigger. A reversing switch button located above the trigger switch lets you reverse the rotation of the bit.

A switch on top lets you set the tool to function as either a traditional drill or a hammer drill with a hammering action. By using the depth gauge on the front of the tool, you can pre-set or repeat your drilling depth.

Side-Assist Handle for Greater Control
Included with the Skil 6445-01 1/2-inch hammer drill is a detachable side-assist handle that provides additional control and accuracy while you're drilling. The handle is adjustable to any position around the 360-degree front housing collar.

The tool comes equipped with a chuck key and storage area located conveniently on the power cord protector, just below the tool's handle.

I have been using cordless drills for the last decade and forgot how much more powerful even inexpensive corded drills, like this 7 amp Skil hammer drill, are. The Skill hammer drill cuts through different materials like butter compared with my much more expensive cordless drills.

Skil is an old and respected name in tools (particularly Skil circular saws). Skil is now owned by Bosch and the Skil 6445-01 7A Hammer Drill appears to be very good quality for the price.

There is one mistake in the listed Amazon specs for this tool: there is no bubble level. However, the drill does come with a very nice canvas tool bag which is not mentioned by Amazon.

I needed to attach wood to concrete slabs. With a regular drill it was impossible to drill into the concrete using a masonry bit. I bought this hammer drill and each hole took only 15 seconds to drill. Tool worked great and at a great price as well.
I prefer corded drills now since the battery pack ones seem to need a new battery every 3 years the cost of these add up. A drill is a lifetime purchase so I would recommend a hammer drill as a general use drill as well.

This drill works great for cement and cinder block drilling. The switch to change from hammer mode to drill mode was a bit tough to get into drill mode at first, but is now working fine. The housing is all plastic. The silver part is painted so there is no metal. The drill has plenty of power. If you want to use slower speeds it's a little tough to regulate.
