More About the Author
Laurie Berdahl, M.D., is a board certified obstetrician-gynecologist with a background in genetic research. Her passionate interest in parenting education has followed naturally from caring for women during their pregnancies and then during the years when their children are growing up. Luckily, she married a child psychologist who is the co-author for their comprehensive parenting writing project. Together they are raising their children with great success. Dr. Berdahl's private practice includes consulting with patients on emotional health matters and parenting. She is also a speaker on women's and family issues.

Drs. Berdahl and Johnson give sound, research-based advice with easy to use examples that are viewable in text boxes and charts. The book gives parents examples of what to do and how to do it. It is a valuable resource for all parents, whether you are struggling with parenting skills or if things are going smoothly. The instructions for successful parenting given by Berdahl and Johnson come with a touch of humor that all parents need to have to make life with kids more satisfying.

If you ever needed an instruction book for good successful parenting skills, this is the book to have. As I read each chapter, I realized that the skills discussed were actually very simple. I was given insight to why each of my three children behave the way they do and what my husband and I can do with them to help ensure they are on the right road to adulthood. I also felt more confident in myself to find that I was already doing some of the suggested interventions and having very similar results. This not only boosted my self-esteem as a parent but showed validity in the writing of the authors. All parents need to read this one for sure!

A MUST Have--Creates less stress in parenting,

We all want the best of everything for our kids. I'm always hearing, "Do the best you can with what you have." Well, this book is a must have to help you do the best you can raising your kid(s). I'm always saying, I don't want to "warp" my children. This book gives great tools/phrases to prevent that! It's not only a read it through book, it is my reference book to go back and remind me of what to do when we get to the teen years of parenting...or reference it for whatever stage we may be in.
It reads easily and just makes good sense. I've tried suggestions from the book and they have worked like a dream. Hence, less stress for me! This book is my treasure! I love it!!
