A British Dynamic Folk Duo!,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Skin & Bone (Audio CD)
Martin Carthy MBE is known as the Godfather of British Folk Music along with his wife, Norman Waterson MBE. In this compact disc, he teams up with musician Dave Swarbrick for this collection of classic folk songs. This compact disc is really for the diehard British folk or just folk music fans. You have to have an acquired taste and appreciation for this music. This duo has produced a first rate album and folk music exists in all languages all around the world. The British folk is largely centuries old and have been about storytelling which Carthy does brilliantly with Swarbrick. There is also the dialect and the language of English itself that has transformed. I admire Carthy, Swarbrick, and others who still create folk music to reasonate in today's world. Folk music can tell stories about love, farming, traveling, etc. There is a wide range of story-telling. Some of these songs have been around for at least a century!
