What a disappointment,
By D. Anderson (Dallas, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Skin Deep (Alias) (Mass Market Paperback)
I have read every one of the Alias books and this is the first book that really disappointed me. I was shocked that someone actually approved this for print. There was too much "fluff". It was more obvious that there was a word limit than a story. This is the eleventh book in the series. I think anyone who has read the books has a better understanding of the characters than
this author did. The whole plot was fairly unbelievable.

Not True To Form,
By SD6 "Heart-Broken" (Connecticut) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Skin Deep (Alias) (Mass Market Paperback)
As a true Alias junkie, this book was a complete disappointment. The author is obviously not a fan of the show nor has she ever read any of the other books. Reading this book was painstacking for me. I usually count the days down until each book release, but if she writes another I won't even waste the money.

I Want My Money Back,
By Clay (OH USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Skin Deep (Alias) (Mass Market Paperback)
Just as the Alias series had been gaining strength and becoming more interesting, this book comes along. The characters are boring, the action sequences are rediculous, and the plot is almost non-existant.. As a die-hard fan of Alias, I wish I wouldn't have spent my money on this.

Sydney's off on another mission, this time to Australia. She's got a great cover, spoiled rich girl who loves horses. And Noah comes along as her servant. The goal is to get friendly with Melanie Lawton to learn what they can about her father, who SD-6 suspects of supporting terrorists. But Miles suspects they are up to something. Can Sydney and Noah figure up what he's up to and get home alive?
They may have had trouble figuring out what Miles was up to, but I guessed it right away. Still, this was a good book that was lots of fun to read. Sydney and Noah's relationship continues to be tested. It's interesting watching them now knowing what happens to them in the future. I also enjoyed the irony of father daughter relationships in this book. And the way the second half kept going, I was up later then I had intended reading "just a little bit more." These books continue to entertain and give more insight into one of my favorite series. Bring on the next one!

Sydney on Horseback,
By
This review is from: Skin Deep (Alias) (Mass Market Paperback)
This installment of the Alias books takes Sydney to Australia with Noah Hicks. She is posing as a rich Texan at a horse show, with Noah (unwillingly) playing her personal assistant. Sydney (again) manages to get into trouble and is dumped in the Outback. Plenty of action, but will probably not appeal to those who are not already fans of the series. Better writing than I had expected for a book of this type.

Use your imagination,
By
This review is from: Skin Deep (Alias) (Mass Market Paperback)
I'm not one to bad mouth a book. I know the authors do this to make a living. I read this book and own it. I'll probalby read it again eventually. It's a little lacking in the plot area, but if you use your imagination, as I did, it's not bad. Just remember it's a book geared toward young adults not adults out of college and in the work force. If you wanted a Alias book for that age group, you'll probably have to write one yourself. Just keep in mind who it's written for and you shouldn't have too many problems.

Attn. Bantam--Do not let this author pen another Alias novel,
By Sebastian Nicholas (Redwood City, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Skin Deep (Alias) (Mass Market Paperback)
Hi, my name is Sebastian and I'm an Alias addict. I own every DVD and book in the Alias genre. As usual, I was unable to put the book down, but mainly just because of my fascination with Alias [...] The plot was lame and I figured out the novel's ending long before the supposed super spies ever did. While I realize these books are intended for young adults and I'm well past the definition of young, the key word is 'adult.' I hope that future authors realize that intelligent people of all ages read these novels and to make them at least SOMEWHAT suspenseful, with twists and turns in the plot, as we've come to expect from the Alias series. Out with author Cathy Hapka--bring back the other authors! Ban Cathy from SD-6 if you expect us to continue to stand outside the bookstore every few months, awaiting the next novel!

For true Alias-the-TV-show fans, this book delivers. It remains true to the show and reads just like an actual episode. Great book in a great series!

This was the most boring and formulaic of the Alias series so far. Just NOT up to the usual standard of easy reading fun with a few twists.
