"Lipstick magazine" is a female fronted AOR band from New Jersey. "Skin Deep" is their debut, delivering melodic AOR blended with a fair amount of bluesy elements. The band consists of Toni Loyas (v), David Loyas (k) Marc J (b), Nat G (g), Damon Marks (g) and Russel K (d).

Although image- wise, the band's focal point is their front woman Toni Loyas, on record her performance is subtle and by no means exaggerative. On the contrary there is plenty of room on "Skin Deep" for lead guitars to shine accompanied by some serious rhythmic keyboards. It has to be said that the album does not include any fast tunes, as all songs stand either as mid or standard tempo tracks; which of course is perfectly fine for an AOR release.

The record definitely benefits from the presence of a six piece band as "Lipstick Magazine's" sound is as complete as it gets, therefore not demanding for a bombastic production.
Overall "Lipstick Magazine" is a smooth, melodic and somewhat groovy AOR offering which should be a very comfortable listen regardless of one's musical tastes. I suppose that blues-rock fans as well as admirers of female fronted bands will benefit the most from this release.

I fist saw this band at Rocklahoma 2008 and they blew me away. The singer has some awesome pipes and the music is pure "good time 80's style metal". The band reminds me a lot of the 80's metal band Femme Fatale. I picked up this CD at the show and the singer signed it for me. She is awesome. Buy this CD, you will not be disappointed.
