but tricky setwered was wrong for the beats.she would sound much better with some one like dj uneek,or someone of that caliber.her production is the only thing that slowed this album down.get a better producer sole.

Sole' has a debut album that is hot to death. She is going to give other female rappers a run for their money. Watch out Lil' Kim.4,5,6 and Accurate Math are just two of the awesome tracks on this packed cd of fresh hot modern beats and tight ryhmes. Sole' is here to stay as long as the sun shines. Keep us bumpin'!

sole' is one of the only new female rappers that can even compete in the game, and most likely one of the only ones that will stick around. hailing from kansas city, kansas, the indian black mix [as she will tell u several times], is awesome. she can out rap most males in the game, but the one problem is, she needs to get discovered. she is ill to the bone, her lyrical talents are amazing, but she needs the recognition that she deserves.even the introduction to skin deep, is bangin. sole' is an amazing artist, and chris "tricky" stewert is an amazing producer. fans got there first taste of raps pocahontas, on jt money's suprise hit single "who dat". since then, she has been tearing up the rap industry, but only to a select audience unfortunately. for the fans that are able to hear this masterpiece then they are extremely lucky. the first, gold certified single "4,5,6" with jt money & kandi burruss of xscape is amazing, and is very hypnotic. it will leave u singing, even when u don't want to. the follow up "it wasn't me" with j. weav/ginuwine, is just as amazing, and became an instant favorite amoung many. if you heard these singles, u will love the rest of the album. hot tracks follow these two including "iy ya ya" the first cuzin of "who dat", "da story" , "for the love of you" with upcoming dreamworks diva tamar braxton, & "never thought i". these are all good songs, and so is the rest of the album. i highly recomend it. i know that you are taking a risk by buying a female rap cd, because the other songs, don't usually add up to the singles power, but this is not in the case. pick it up, trust me.

What happened to Sole?,

I know this album is old, but I was jamming to it in my car the other day and had to write a review. When this album first came out in '99 I really thought Sole would be the new woman to represent females in Hip Hop. It's been 6 years, and with the exception of hearing about her getting married to Genuine she has vanished from the public eye. Her debut album Skin Deep is not to be slept on. She is tough, but her femininity still shines through. She has her own sound, and did not see the need to try to sound like anyone else. I remember when I first heard her on JT Money's track Who Dat (which is on her album as well) I was impressed by her voice. She also did not let her beauty hinder her tough edge one bit. In fact I would say it motivated her to not be just another pretty face trying to be a hip hop artist.
She has some good flows. She let's you know she is not to be messed over, and unlike some other female hip hop artist did not resort to being downright nasty, and trifling. I'm really disappointed she has not released another CD, but hope she will eventually. I still run Skin Deep, the CD is really good. Favorite Cuts: Da Story 3. Iy Yi Yi 5. 4,5,6 6. Ain't Nobody 9. Young 10. It wasn't me 12. 4 the love of you 14. Accurate math 16. Who Dat - with JT Money 17. Never thought I Music for the gym: 4. Iy Yi Yi 6. Ain't Nobody 16. Who Dat

New Die Hard Sole Fan,

I really love this album. I'm very picky about where i spend my money. I'm a singer and i really like all types of music, but it has to be worth my money. She has a different style of music, that's very unique and I would continue as a fan with Sole (as long as she's still flowin'). But for those who are very versatile in their selection of music and who likes good music, I strongly suggest adding Sole to your music collection. My favorite song on this album is "4 tha Love of U". I just found out that Toni Braxton's sister Tamar is singing on this song, and I think she did an excellent job (may consider buying Tamar's new album). THIS ALBUM IS A MUST-GET.

I just didn't know!!!,

If had known that this CD would've been so hot, I wouldn't have waited so long to get it. I am shocked that this didn't get more airplay in my area (DC, when I bought it)! The lyrics are great and so are the beats. After listening, you can't deny that Sole is talented, she has a really great voice for delivering dope lyrics. Although I like all the songs on this album, my favorites are #3,5,7,9,10,11...well the list goes on, I can't really pick just one. If you buy this CD and really listen to the lyrics, you'll have the same problem.

SOLE PLEASE COMEBACK TO HIP/HOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,
This review is from: Skin Deep (Audio CD)
I remember when I first got the single 4,5,6 the non-edited version. I was like this women is awesome. Being a female myself, I had to go get her entire album right away. I would bump it in my car all the time. Even guys was sprung off sole looks and lyrical genius. Someone stole my cd back in 2003. I went back to the music stores and could not find her cd anywhere. I have been looking all this time. It is 2008, I am 39 years old now, and I'm still sprung off her rapping ability. I play the song of 4, 5, 6 all the time on my ipod. I even tried finding her on itunes with no luck. I finally found it on Amazon today 10/15, 2008. Thank God for Amazon. I have been waiting for Sole to come out with a 2nd album for years!!!!! Sole, I understand your married with children now, but hip/hop females rappers need your help desperately. PLEASE COME OUT OF RETIREMENT (IF THAT WHAT YOUR ON!!! I MEAN IT IN A NICE WAY!!!)and blast them up and coming new artist and old with what real rapping talent is. Hell, you and genuwine need to come out with a singing and rapping song together. If Chante Moore and Kenny Lattimore can come out with a couple album why can't ya'll. I think your married collaboration's would be HOT HOT HOT!!!!!!!
