Book Description

May 1, 2007
Though Skinema "reviews" over 150 pornos, Nieratko hardly ever mentions them, focusing instead on the pill-popping exploits that he's documented unapologetically over the past seven years in his column for Vice Magazine—much to his editors chagrin. As Johnny Knoxville so succinctly put it, Nieratko is an asshole, but whether Chris is rescuing a stalker from choking on her own vomit, getting his nose broken for having AIDS (he doesn't) or marrying the one woman that could put up with his insanity, his life sounds so much like a collection of hilarious bar stories it's impossible not to grab a beer and listen to the whole thing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jerks Need Love Too June 8, 2007
Chris Nieratko, sleazy devil of the delinquent sort, may want you to believe that he's "hard" (pronounced "haawwd") but his new book, Skinema, is at it's essense a redemptive love letter to his new wife. Skinema is a collection of short introspective essays that read like the most interesting bar conversations you've ever had. Interesting thing is, these essays are set up as porn video reviews. Tangenital at best, those "reviews" never really make it to the page. Instead we are regaled with Chris' numerous life experiences - any single one of which would leave lesser mortals dead or in jail. His stories take the reader on a cringe-filled journey from the depths of unhealthy relationships, massive drug and alcohol abuse, to the heights of self-awareness and protective possesion of the only good thing a prodigal ex-junkie needs, the love of a good woman (the kind that will at least consider a threesome). I can highly recommend this to anyone with a skewed sense of humor and an inner voyeuristic leer.

5.0 out of 5 stars HILARIOUS! August 23, 2007
Chris Nieratko is one of the funniest writers of all time! This book is amazing and reviews 150 Porno films (although 90% of the time he never talks about or even mentions the film). Each review he will talk about a hilarious story or chapter in his life, which usually involves some sort of substance abuse. There are many great stories of his to choose from, like the time he thought he had AIDS or the time he got a Japanese buisnessman drunk. A perfect book for those who don't have time to sit down and read a lot, it's a great book to just open and read one review (usually about 1-2 pages long) and have a great laugh.

Any fans of Jackass or Big Brother skateboarding will love this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars I almost peed my pants several times October 11, 2008

This writer is such a creep, he writes these porno reviews which somehow always leave out details of the porno itself and includes sleezy tales of his shenanigans with various characters. He is too funny though, and such a great writer. I can't tell you how many times I busted a gut laughing at his antics. Warning though, not suited to read on a plane, book cover will give dirty looks.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a life.
Real or fake, Nieratko can describe one hell of a good time. Every little adventure whether real or fake, is extraordinarily funny. It is very raunchy so beware. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars probably my favorite book.... at least top 5
hilarious! although my favorite thing about this book is how a maturing moral sneaks up on you and by the end of the book you don't really think the guy is that big of a jerk.

to make sex and drugs boring.
really, it takes some seriously horrible writing to turn descriptions of cocaine- and semen-smeared escapades into a full-blown yawnfest. Read more
