4.0 out of 5 stars it was better than spirit of 69, February 28, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Skinhead Nation (Paperback)
I enjoyed this one alot more than the previous George Marshall fare. Although that's probably because I am biased and this book touches more on the American skinheads than our British counterparts, this one is just more interesting. It's more stories, more entertaining, and of course, great pictures. None of that silly fashion index nonsense, and it doesn't read like instructions.

5.0 out of 5 stars ultimate book on any youth cult, June 27, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Skinhead Nation (Paperback)
this book blew me away with its down to earth realism about what it's like to be a skinhead. I don't subscribe to the skinhead cult myself, but it certainly opened my eyes to their reality of themselves which differs greatly from the media coverage I've read. Can't recommend it enough.

This review is from: Skinhead Nation (Paperback)
This is one of the greatest books about a Skinhead society that the world has ever produced. It is written well enough to keep you interested, yet is factual enough to give you information about the subject. I enjoyed it immensly!

If you think you know anything about skinheads, maybe you don't. If you think they're a bunch of Neo-Nazis, you're wrong. If you think they're a bunch of malicious, un-loving, un-caring, scum of universe with no sense of humanity, you're wrong, again. Very wrong. If you want the truth about one of the longest lasting youth cults in history, this is the book to get. I haven't found Spirit of '69: A Skinhead Bible, but I want to check it out. If it's better than this book, I can't wait. The pics are incredible too. Definately worth seeing for a glimpse at the truth.

5.0 out of 5 stars knees up mother brown, May 5, 2008

This review is from: Skinhead Nation (Paperback)
This is a really good book on all things skinhead. Lots of personal stories and antidotes. Nice photos too. Covers all aspects of the greatest cult of them all which is still going strong. Gives good first hand accounts of how it is to have to live with and deal with mainstreams tainted view of what it is to be a skin. ( no one likes us and we dont care) Theres a really good DVD available called "World of Skinhead" which fully compliments this book. Many of the characters are in the film, I got a copy from angryyoungandpoor.
This is a must have read for all skinheads.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great follow-up to _Spirit of '69_, June 1, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Skinhead Nation (Paperback)
This book is quite informitive in regards to those who either do not know or just do not know much about the TRUE skinhead subculture and its well-integrated youth. The constant complaints and literary snarls towards the general media for slandering the working-class youths does become a bit repititious, yet Marshall wonderfully documents the subculture's spread around the world by displaying many photographs and writing of his own knowledge and that of the people he has met. For those of us who have been around the block, Skinhead Nation makes for a great coffee table book to spot out those we know.

4.0 out of 5 stars The truth about skinheads!, July 30, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Skinhead Nation (Paperback)
It's a nice book about REAL NON-RACIST SKINHEDS, just like Marshalls Spirit of '69. This book is based on interviews with people from the skinhead cult of today. That's really different from Marshalls book Spirit of '69 that is a plain historical document about the skinhead cult. This book is better in some ways. The Skinhead Bible is better than this book in other ways.
