4.0 out of 5 stars Giving It To You Straight
Initially, I thought I didn't want to read all the cursing, etc. However, I appreciate the direct and frank tone the authors gave me about being obese, feeling sorry for myself and eating foods that are literally killing me! I am following their advice and as a result, I have become a vegan. I feel 100% better, I have more energy and I look forward to being a "skinny...

The main book is great I have not tried the recipes yet. I felt there was alot of peta propaganda in the book. It makes alot of good sense, common sense of course is to eat more vegetables. It has a frank approach so it is a refreshing way to get the information. If you want to loose weight but don't want to change anything about your life, get this book. It will change...

Initially, I thought I didn't want to read all the cursing, etc. However, I appreciate the direct and frank tone the authors gave me about being obese, feeling sorry for myself and eating foods that are literally killing me! I am following their advice and as a result, I have become a vegan. I feel 100% better, I have more energy and I look forward to being a "skinny bitch" in a good way! Sometimes, it takes someone like these authors to give you the truth without making it sound "cute and pretty". I need to hear the TRUTH without the fluff.

I read a lot of reviews before I picked up this book. A lot of people complained at the manner in which it was written. I am not easily offended, so I found this book a lot of fun to read because of it's straight up honesty. I felt it was very motivating to make changes in my life.

I've made a few of the recipes in the cookbook. And the food is delicious. I could eat that club sandwich for lunch everyday and not get bored with it. It's amazing the difference you feel when you start reading ingredients and choosing such healthy food.

And to those who say that these women are basically making you starve yourself with this food...I have to disagree 100%. The food is delicious and good for you. It still has calories you need, just less fat calories that you don't. And most of this food is cholesterol free.

Needless to say. This book has made me change the way I look at food, and I feel a lot better for it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Book Set!, August 17, 2008

I loved the Skinny Bitch book, after I read it. I wanted to try Skinny Bitch in the Kitch. So far I tried the Potato Scamble and thought it was great! I love that these books come together as they compliment each other very well, and that they are hardcover as they will last longer.
Skinny Bitch has changed my life. It has helped me become aware of the things I put into my body, how food is processed, etc. I give it 4 stars instead of 5, for the fact that some things may or may not be true, just as anything may be. Use your own judgement.

5.0 out of 5 stars Skinny Bitch is informative and entertaining, February 13, 2009
This review is from: Skinny Bitch in a Box (Hardcover)
I give Skinny Bitch five stars and Skinny Bitch in the Kitch 3 stars.

My teenage daughter and I loved reading the book Skinny Bitch. It made sense to both of us. It was very easy to read and I actually laughed out loud occasionally. I have read many nutrition related books, but I learned new information nevertheless.

This is a no nonsense book that contains scientific information in a very understandable format. It gets you to think about what you are putting into your mouth and body.

I was not impressed with Skinny Bitch in the Kitch. I felt that the recipes contained too many vegan cheeses and other ingredients that are processed. I try to eat only fresh foods such as fruits, vegetables and legumes. I was surprised to see how many ingredients were not fresh, preservative free and unprocessed. Skip the cookbook and just read Skinny Bitch

I really enjoyed these books. I liked all of the information and the sassy style in which they are wriiten. I would have liked there to be more recipes that didn't contain so much soy, (I am allergic) but other than that...I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to be healthier.

I would have rated the book higher if the was not so much graphic material about meat processing. However in hindsight, I guess we are oblivious to what really goes on, so it was an important part of the whole idea to eliminate meat from the diet. It was just really unpleasant reading about it.

This book is a great answer to the problem of connecting veganism to modern day, trendy, youth culture.

It's not too hippie-ish or off the main stream like you often find with some veg cook books. It's hip, no holds barred, and easy to read. Young women won't even necessarily realize they're eating sans cruelty - they'll just think they're having fun reading and cooking yummy, healthy food.

The potato & pumpkin curry is to die for!

5.0 out of 5 stars The real truth behind our food., November 21, 2008
This review is from: Skinny Bitch in a Box (Hardcover)
This book was an eye opener for me. I started to look at the ingredient listings on what I thought was healthy food in my house and was shocked and horrified over what I saw. This book helps you determine what additives are safe and which ones are not. A quick read. Simple and clear cut on what is good and what is bad for you. This book has changed the way I eat,the way I shop and what I feed my family. The cook book is great. I am so glad I got the box set and not just the one book. The recipes are a great start on how to prepare good meals for your family. I like the tough love type of concept behind the book.

Wow...this book changed my life for the better. I was a vegetarian for a while but I decided to get rid of dairy products and eggs. This book convinced me that I made the right choice. It gives an inside look at how the meat, poultry, and dairy industries are treating animals. Well that's all I have to say about that. You'll have to read the book yourself. Enjoy !

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Read Yet, September 23, 2008
This review is from: Skinny Bitch in a Box (Hardcover)
If you are tired of being lied to about the facts, then you need to read Skinny Bitch. It will open your eyes to what you thought you knew, and clarify the questions you may have. Don't be upset, there is some swearing, but their book clearly denotes a "tough love" approach. Enjoy!
