4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
I am not surprised at those who have trashed this book. This book is well written and researched. All of the facts/studies are referenced. The book is written in a "in your face" way to get you mad, and to question our government. It does advocate going veg, but it also gives advice to those who want to keep eating meat. If you care about your health, and the health of...

3.0 out of 5 stars Veggies and stuff.. I don't know about that...
The book overall is ok, you learn what harmful things coke, sweets and other things can do to you. But it really is pushing you to become a vegan, I personally love meat and so on but I have to say it helped me leave coke and coffee.

The book is written in a "in your face" way to get you mad, and to question our government. It does advocate going veg, but it also gives advice to those who want to keep eating meat. If you care about your health, and the health of others...READ THIS BOOK. Get over the fact that there is "potty language" in the book. It's called "Skinny Bitch"! Did you really think that the language would be all hearts and flowers?

I never expected to be so moved. Meat-eaters will, of course, feel personally threatened by this book. Relax. Read. Learn. Thank you for a fabulous book!

Skinny Bitch in a Box
I could really do with out the Robin Williams unplugged version but certainly understand it is used for effect. I can not get it to play on my home computer nor my dc player so I am left to try to get as close to my speakers at work to hear it. I have tried a couple recipes and they are tasty.
I suggest reading Thanking the Monkey by Karen Dawn and Speaking Up for Animals by Kim Smallwood.

1.0 out of 5 stars Soy isn't that good for you either, November 26, 2011
This review is from: Skinny Bitch Deluxe Edition (Audio CD)
The authors wrote a tract to convince people to become vegans and use soy products instead of meat. But over 90% of soy grown in the US is genetically modified (GMO). Also scientists are finding that raw soy is not meant for human consumption unless it is fermented. So while they are calling meat eaters a@@holes because of the factory farm system, they do not realized that soy is also the product of the same system--using pesticides and other environmentally disturbing products that are not meant for human consumption. See: [...] and many other articles on the subject of soy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Controversial but I loved it., October 29, 2011

When I bought this I looked up some stuff on the internet about it first. There is a lot of controversy around it. I really like it though. I don't follow a complete vegan lifestyle but I still got A LOT from this book. I was able to take some of it and adapt it to my lifestyle and make some healthy changes.

I don't think that everything in this book is for everyone but you won't regret purchasing it, you will gain something from it.

I bought the audio version and I enjoyed it, nice narration and dialouge. Yes there is a bit of poor language in it but nothing raunchy.

5.0 out of 5 stars No sugar coating for this diet book!, April 3, 2011

After listening to Skinny Bitch, I decided to go vegan. It's not for those who are uncomfortable with foul language, but it does provide some very good information about food, the planet and a different way of eating. And it's presented in a way that makes you want to listen and learn - not a bit boring!

If you can get passed the swear words there are some enlightening bits of information about the U.S.'s food sources in this book. It's worth the read and it makes you think twice when you go grocery shopping. I recommend it. Also some great, simple recipes in 'Skinny B*&% in The Kitchen'.

1.0 out of 5 stars Skinny Bitch / Skinny Bitch in the Kitchen, November 21, 2008
This review is from: Skinny Bitch Deluxe Edition (Audio CD)
Filled with sarcasm and bad science, this book is a vegetarian cookbook in disguise. It states the old fiction of meat rotting in your stomach and while stating that sugar is the enemy, uses ketchup (which requires a load of sugar in the ingrediants before it can be labelled as such) in several recipes.
If it's vegetarian cooking you want, you can do better.
