5.0 out of 5 stars Eye Opening
This book was not only a funny and informational read, but incredible eye opening. I have been a Vegeterian for a while and this is just the push i need to embark into a vegan lifestyle. I know of so many people that have become vegans from this book alone. They are responsible of saving the lives of hundreds of animals, i have nothing but love and respect for these girls.

1.0 out of 5 stars Unrealistic
Ok, so if you do not mind having a $2,000 grocery bill a month, rarely going out to eat, and sitting alone in the corner at family/friend get togethers because you can't eat anything there..then this book is for you! Parts are true, however people we only live once and moderation is key! This diet is almost so hard to follow, its unrealistic anyone in the right mind...

5.0 out of 5 stars This book changed my life, July 22, 2008
This review is from: Skinny Bitch (Spanish Edition) (Paperback)
When I saw this book at the bookstore I thought that it was just a simple diet book. I had no idea how it would change my life. I read this book all in one sitting it was so engrossing. I never planned to be a vegan, but I am proud to say that I have been one now for a month and I have no plans of stopping. Yes I had to give up many things that I loved, but I feel so much better and healthier.

I could have done with out the vulgar language - that is the only negative about this book.

I tell friends who ask why I went vegan that I read this book and that I only recommend reading it if you are ready for a lifestyle change.

Overall I am thrilled with my lifestyle change. I have finally managed to drop the last 5 pounds that were hanging on from my second pregnancy.

Parts are true, however people we only live once and moderation is key! This diet is almost so hard to follow, its unrealistic anyone in the right mind could not stick to it! I can assure you that whether you eat vegan or eat what you like moderatley, I can't imagine it prolonging your life being a complete vegan vs a moderate diet. Water, Proteins, Veggies, occasionaly treating yourself that is the way to go. THIS BOOK IS UNREALISTIC, A FAD, just look at the cover its there just go grab your attention and thats about it.

This book is amazing - funny, educational, realistic. This book changed my life, because it actually pushed me over the edge to become a vegetarian.

Bottom line: good read, interesting, and humorous.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny & Factual...plus inspiring!, August 7, 2008
This review is from: Skinny Bitch (Spanish Edition) (Paperback)
I'm 41 and fat, like 80 lbs overweight. I read this book, laughed the whole time and got inspired to go Vegan. These ladies, and yes they are brusque and use course language (which shouldn't surprise anyone, considering the title) but they are in it for YOUR health. As far as not being based on science??? If you are one of those people who don't believe it unless they see it on the Today show, then remain skeptical. If you think "conventional medicine" is telling you the whole story and that it's okay for our Daily Requirements of dairy to be established by the American Dairy Association, then feel free to keep your eyes closed to the detrimental effects of animal products on human body tissue. But if you're able to consider that the fellow who won a Nobel Prize for discovering the cause of cancer in the 70's actually did discover the cause of cancer, then take a chance, have a laugh and read this book. You might become inspired to change your lifestyle. I did. 10 pounds off, 70 to go! PS. I heard about the ex-spice girl reading this book from the other reviews. It's not why I got the book. In fact, I'm glad I didn't know...I probably wouldn't have bought it.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent book with a misunderstood concept, July 20, 2008
This review is from: Skinny Bitch (Spanish Edition) (Paperback)
In response to some of the more negative reviews, I felt compelled to write with my undying support for this book.

Whilst I agree that the title is misleading, the goal of the book is to inform readers of why a holistic lifestyle can greatly improve health, and subsequently weight will be lost. As someone with a slender frame who was suffering from headaches, anxiety and tiredness I was inspired by the suggestions made in the book and guess what, within my first week of a vegan lifestyle at least 6 people commented on how well I looked. My headaches are gone and I am full of energy.

The book not only covers the ethical reasons for eating healthy but also the chemical ones, the claim aspartame was rejected numerous times for approval by the FDA can be verified with a quick Google search and backed up by the fact it is banned in all children's products in Europe!

Yes, of course we need protein but I get mine through vegan soy shakes, nuts, beans and various vegetables which are also laden with natural vitamins and minerals. Vegans who do not pay attention to what they eat and become unhealthy are comparable to people who eat take out and become unhealthy.

There are many vegan/health books on the market but I would recommend this one for it's easy interface, entertaining narrative and small size.

6 stars!! It has truly changed my life for the better. I not only feel healthier but can rest easy that no critters are being hurt for my feeding needs.

1.0 out of 5 stars The title fits, June 18, 2008

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Skinny Bitch (Spanish Edition) (Paperback)
The title fits the book because if I ate only what this book tells me to eat I would be a bitch. I would be a crabby, broke, hungry, bitch. I completely understand the message in the book, and it's not that I don't agree with their views on hurting animals and the environment, it's just that I don't think I can stick to any of it. A whole chapter was written on the cruelty to animals and it is so gruesome I had to skip thru some of it to not have nightmares, but I like my meat occasionally so I will fight the cruelty of animals in other ways than giving up eating it. I also love cheese and milk and although I have found a soy milk I like, all the horrible things said about milk will not deter me from cheese either. The book also gives you a list of brands you can buy and the cost of these brands is almost twice that of any food I buy now plus the stores are far away. The economy is bad and I could lose my job to layoffs any day so that's just not feasable right now. The only thing I did like about the book is the straightforward way they put it to you, I guess because I'm a no-nonsense girl too. Nice try ladies but all your gruesome stories haven't changed my eating habits.
