What a treasure. Expecting only a collection of smoothies, which was what I wanted at the time, I was delightfully surprised at the expanse of information in this book. The special advantages of the various fruits, vegetables, and additives were invaluable. Knowing which smoothies were "picker-uppers" and which could be substitued for meals was also very helpful. And, finally, having the carbs, sugars, proteins, etc. included with each recipe was fabulous. I have spoken about this book to many friends who have bought it and are glad they did.

This book has tons of recipes that are not only delicious but good for you. I was looking for something to hit the sweet spot while I was dieting and this was it. The smoothies make me feel like I am cheating on my diet but really I am only helping it.

Was hoping for more recipes with greens/veg, but it's a good variety with plenty of "normal" ingredients and a few creative ones. I've liked all I've tried so far.

I love the Skinny Smoothies book. I made a shopping list and headed to the vitamin store the following day. I was overwhelmed by the selection of protein powders? I'm not sure which one they used in their recipes to obtain the Nutritional Information.

I love this book! I have a lot of smoothie books, but I always come back to this one. I have made most of the recipes in this book. and have been greatly pleased with the results. Based on this, I look forward to making the rest of them. There is such a wide variety of liquids, bases, and combinations of fruits and vegetables from which to choose. It has something for everyone's tastes. I like the nutritional information, too. Some smoothie books do not include that information with their recipes. I can't understand the one-star and two-star reviews. The book doesn't have pictures?? Of course, it clearly does. No recipes with fruit??? You've got to be kidding me!! Too much to read....you have the option to read whatever you want. There is a table of contents in the book! I love that feature in a book because it helps me choose which chapters I would like to read first. Then, I go back and read the other chapters I skipped if I choose. Part One (Getting Started) of the book has a chapter on the health benefits of smoothies, a chapter on your daily intake (sample week of smoothies), and a chapter on ingredients and equipment. Many people might find they do not need or want this information, but others might find it vey helpful. Someone new to making smoothies would definitely need and appreciate this information, so I am glad it was included. Granted there are people who think this is a lot of information to be read, but it is not a gigantic amount(the book is only 202 pages). Plus, it is an easy read. Part Two includes the smoothie recipes. To readers considering the purchase of this book, don't base your decision solely on the one-star and two-star reviews. You can clearly see they read the wrong book....that is....if they actually read anything at all!Read more ›

The first 72 pages of this book are all nutritional information, how to use a blender, and how to use the book as a diet tool. All I wanted was a smoothy recipe book not a instructional manual! The recipes that are in the book don't have any fruit and instead rely on man made foods like protein powder for nutritional value. This book also uses a lot of soy and almond products. So if you can't have soy and almond products, like myself, than you are going to be doing a lot of experimenting. Though the recipes mentioned in this book are a great jumping off.
