4.0 out of 5 stars Great with multiple kids
I have twin toddlers and a newborn baby... and love that I made this purchase.

pros:
backpack style for hands free walking with kids
stroller latches on the straps
4 mesh pockets (2 outside and 2 inside) to keep bottles and sippy cups.
separate pocket area for diaper changing accessories
front pocket for personal items like Mom's wallet...

3.0 out of 5 stars Shoddy construction ruins otherwise nice bag
The fabric on bag looks a lot better in real life than it does on the screen - fabric is a perky spring green (not too bright or day-glo, though definitely not subdued) and has a sheen. Interior is a grey-ish white throughout so you don't have to deal with "black hole" syndrome. One large slip pocket & 2 mesh bottle pockets in main compartment, really nice simple changing...

The fabric on bag looks a lot better in real life than it does on the screen - fabric is a perky spring green (not too bright or day-glo, though definitely not subdued) and has a sheen. Interior is a grey-ish white throughout so you don't have to deal with "black hole" syndrome. One large slip pocket & 2 mesh bottle pockets in main compartment, really nice simple changing pad compartment, mommy compartment big enough for wallet, keys, and accessory bags, and a smaller organizational department for things like iPods, cell phones, cameras etc.. Overall, the organization is just right, you aren't overwhelmed with random pockets everywhere but on the other hand you have a place for everything you might want to put in this bag. My one issue is sewing. When I got the bag there was a loose thread on the side and some of the seam had already snagged, after only 10 minutes of use. After a 2 hour museum outing, the mesh pocket on the side tore and the fabric on the front tore as well (this was a quiet trip to a museum, not a rock climbing trip!). The zippers aren't as smooth as my Eagle Creek backpack. I would say that the organization is nice but SkipHop probably should send someone to the factory in China for additional quality control measures. Fortunately Amazon accepts returns on faulty products, but I'm not sure I'll be getting another one in the near future.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not what I thought it would be, September 17, 2008
So this backpack isn't what I thought it would be at all! It's waaay small and the straps make the backpack ride up high on your back. My husband couldn't even wear it at all and that is the main reason I got it. It has different compartments which is nice but the size & design just don't make up for it. I wouldn't recommend it at all unless you are tiny in size. :)

I love this diaper bag. it clips to my bugaboo bee stroller and has always held enough stuff you need. It held all the stuff I needed when my kid was newborn all the way up to today and she is 1 1/2.

Not only have I used this as my everyday bag but we have travelled with it too. The material is sturdy. we have not had any problems with the zipper or even the mesh pockets. This bag has been used and abused and is still holding strong. The seperate diaper compartment can hold about 10 diapers, a wipes case, and other changing stuff. The small zipper compartment on the top holds quite a bit of stuff too, I have a full size hand sanitizer there.

As far as size, my husband is 6'0 tall and I am 4'11 and we can both carry this backpack just fine. It is not too big or too small, it is just right.

I would reccommend this backpack to everyone.

I am a review aholic!I read and read and then purchase. I love this bag so much I had to write this (my first time writing ever). First it is big and roomy without being huge. My husband LOVES this bag. Its great for dads who do not want to carry a girly bag. It is desighned well with great compartments. I have had no trouble with this bag at all. I love the way it clips onto the stroller or a shopping cart. Great buy. I originally purchased a JJ Cole bag that I wasted 70 dollars on. I hop ethis helps, remember I am a very picky person. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars The BEST diaper bag for everyday and for travel. 7 countries & counting!, January 12, 2010

I can't say enough about this excellent bag: stylish, robust, intuitive, all the right pockets, excellent design... couldn't live without it! It's my everyday bag as well as the best airplane carry-on -- baby or no baby! Diaper stuff all goes in a special zipped area that's a cinch to access even one-handed. Has webby pouches inside and outside to secure bottles or other valuables (inside where it would be difficult for a pick-pocket to get them is excellent). Two perfectly placed zipped pockets in the very front to get at stuff you need alot and even clip straps on the shoulder harness that allow you to suspend the entire bag from any stroller. If there were an Oscar for diaper bags (tho I'm glad there isn't!) -- this one would sweep the deck!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not great, July 25, 2009

(REAL NAME)
We got this backpack because we go out and about with our son all the time. We live in a big city and strollers or bulky diaper bags are more of a nuisance than a help. I ordered the black version so that my husband wouldn't be concerned with wearing a "baby-ish" back pack around the city. It is a relatively small bag, but it holds more than enough for a day out or an overnight trip. The organizational features are really useful and well designed. It has a mesh back so you don't sweat up a storm. There is a neat zipper on the back side so you can reach into the backpack's main compartment without having to take the entire backpack off. It also came with it's own changing pad that has it's own spot in the bag.
After only a month, the main compartment zipper broke and we can't fix it. It gradually got more and more kinked up and eventually wouldn't stay shut when we wore it for more than a few minutes with more than a diaper in it. We were really disappointed since the rest of the bag seems really well made and we use it all of the time. I won't be buying another Skip Hop item again because of how disappointing this bag became.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost Perfect, January 19, 2009
A Kid's Review
I got this diaper bag so that I could have something that was more portable, accessible and versatile then the traditional sling style bag. I admit, I initially thought it was on the small size. However, it actually holds everything I need for a trip out. It has a bunch of cargo pockets on the inside and out, a changing pad, and cool zippers on the sides that let you access stuff on the bottom of the bag without taking the bag off, opening the top up and digging through it all. I live in a big city and I take cabs and the subway or walk everywhere. The places we normally go to, strollers just aren't practical. Wonderfully, this backpack is the right size for a day out and about and can hold several diapers, wipes, a couple changes of clothes for my son, snacks, bottles and my essentials from my purse.

My husband is 6'2", 235lbs and in the Army. He can easily wear this backpack, so I have no clue what sort of "too small/fit" problem other husbands have been complaining about. One of us carries the backpack, the other straps on the baby carrier and totes my son. Then we trade off.

Suck it up and loosen the straps, men. Loosen the fricken' straps. Your arms aren't that big or buff. Promise. I realize that a backpack this "small" isn't the most manly pack you've carried, but at least it isn't a traditional diaper bag with Winnie the Poo or those stupid Precious Moments angels on it. Get over yourselves and just wear the bag. It's obviously not one of those mini backpacks from the 90s, its just a small-ish backpack that could easily pass as a Jans Port. Get over yourselves.

Seriously, my only real complaint is that the zipper on the main compartment busted after about a month. It won't stay zipped and it splits open in random spots, forcing you to ever so gently re-feed the zipper back through the clasp. Unfortunately I didn't purchase this through Amazon, so I'm having a bit more trouble getting it fixed then if I had. Great bag, otherwise. The zipper just sucks.

1.0 out of 5 stars Buy anything but this!, August 2, 2011
This review is from: Skip Hop Via Backpack Diaper Bag, Black (Baby Product)
Honestly, I had high hopes for this bag. As a mom of twin 9mo olds, a diaper bag that holds everything and then some is critical. I wanted a backpack to add to our collection so that when out alone with the girls, I could just throw it on me and not lose the use of an arm. Skip Hop has a great reputation, so I ordered this without hesitation. Boy did I regret it.

1st problem- within 24 hours of getting it, the front zipper broke. Lame, and somewhat of a disappointment, because the front pocket is my only mommy spot on it!

2nd problem- within the first week, as others have noted, the fabric began to fray

3rd problem- within 2 weeks- I- gasp- got the thing a bit wet in a storm and somehow the WATER stained the thing dark? My bad is now 4 shades of red.

4th problem- Mesh bottle holders snagged... great... now what do I do...

I return it, that is what I do. This thing screams poor quality garbage. Find anything else.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected, May 22, 2011
This review is from: Skip Hop Via Backpack Diaper Bag, Black (Baby Product)
I really wanted this backpack diaper bag to work. I have been researching the Ju Ju Be BFF and the Skip Hop via Backpack. The Skip Hop backpack is small, stiff material, heavier than I expected, doesn't look like a $70 bag more like $20. I wanted this one to work because it is half the price of the Ju Ju Be but there is a reason for that. I will try the Ju Ju Be BFF and see how that goes. This one is going back. You would probably be better off with a normal backpack than this. I might try that too since we already have a nice Eddie Bauer one anyway.
