The perfect non-diaper-bag diaper bag,
By
This review is from: Skip Hop Duo Deluxe Red (Baby Product)
This may be the best bag I've ever owned. I recently traveled by plane and found it was large enough to accommodate my 13" laptop, seven extra diapers + wipes (never know how long you're going to be stuck in the airport), two books (one for me, one for my husband), and various other items, all without making the bag bulky (though yes, it was heavy, as you can imagine). Yet, the bag is somehow compact enough that I can use it around town *without* all of those items, and it doesn't look like I'm carrying a giant empty bag around. Should your child decide he wants *you* to hold his beloved stuffed sheep, it'll fit easily inside. For any moms and dads out there returning to school, you can fit a textbook (two if they're slim), notebooks, folders, etc. inside and not worry that it looks like you're using a diaper bag. (FYI, when my laptop is inside, I find my bulky textbook too big to also fit, so I just carry it.)
Perhaps my favorite feature are the two front pockets, miraculously large enough to easily slip a sippy cup in and out of (but, when empty, look just as they do in the picture), thus keeping it upright and spill-free. I also love the two zippered pockets at the top of the bag (I keep my wallet in one of them). I don't use my stroller much anymore (my son is 2 1/2), but I do use the stroller clips on the cart handle at the grocery store. I *love* not having to carry my bag around and having easy access to sippy cups, snacks, etc. that my son may want.

My husband will tell you I am a diaper bag slut - I have tried many and refused to commit to any ... until now. The Skip Hop Duo Deluxe Uptown is everything I have been looking for in a diaper bag. It is stylish AND convenient. I have an infant and a toddler, and there's room for both their stuff. The water bottle net on the side is perfect for mommy's drink but it can also adjust to fit a sippy cup, the mobile phone pocket is big enough for my smartphone, the changing pad is long enough for my toddler - I could go on and on. All the things that frustrated me in other bags are addressed with this one, and the fact that it snaps right onto the stroller made it perfect because my infant seat makes accessing the basket under the stroller impossible. So settle down for a long-term relationship with this diaper bag; this is THE BAG to own especially if you have two!!

Yep, it is a cute bag and has lots of pockets. The problem is, once you starting putting things in the pockets, it becomes difficult to reach inside the main compartment as the pockets bulge towards the interior of the bag and not out.
I have no idea how a previous poster managed to get a laptop, seven diapers and anything else in this bag. And books? No way. I'll use this bag for quick trips around town but for day trips, forget about it. We will use the DaddyGear backpack I got for my husband - roomier, more convenient with an outside wipe dispenser, and still stylish. There is no way I could fit 4 diapers, wipes, changing pad, lotion, a change of clothes, lunch containers, sippy cup and any kind of stuffed animal in this diaper bag without pulling everything out to get to the bottom of the bag.

I purchased this diaper bag after searching through TONS of bags and readings what seems like a zillion reviews. Even though others had left reviews stating how narrow the inside storage was in this bag, it seemed the people who felt they had found the "perfect" bag far outweighed those who were still left wanting... in the end I settled on this Skip Hop bag and happily placed my order. Unfortunately, it really isn't a five or even a four star bag...
Since I was taught to be positive I'll start with two things I love... the many color choices are fabulous- I opted for the chocolate brown for my husband's sake. Also, the stroller clips are fabulous and for me the saving grace for the bag. It's so convenient not only with the stroller, but for the shopping cart as well... love, love, love that feature! The worst thing about the bag is the lack of space inside the bag and the fact that even access to it is so narrow. When you first look at your new bag it might not seem so bad, but just wait until you begin to fill it! By the time you put items in the inside and outside pockets everything has pushed against the main inside area taking up much of the available space. This makes it very impractical for storing and accessing things you need. Another thing that I dislike about this bag is that of the eleven advertised "pockets", only ten are actual pockets- the eleventh is an elastic strap for holding pens in the front section. Out of the then remaining, only two are inside the main area of the bag. The bottle/sippie cup pocket is useful, as is the cell phone pocket (great for binkie storage, too!) but the two outer top pockets are only about 1/4 of the depth of the bag so although they zip, they aren't deep enough for much more than your wallet, keys, etc... The other pockets are on the outer front of the bag with no fasteners of any kind, so you can only place items in them that you have no fear of falling out. Speaking of falling out, the main interior of the bag is held together with a magnet fastener which only pulls together the center of the bag, so any small items inside your bag will need to be inside something else or you'll be losing things any time the bag tips over. All in all I'm right in the middle with my purchase, the features that I like- I really like, and the things that disappoint me didn't make me feel so bad as to return it, but I did need to be creative in the way I packed the tight spaces. Take the advice of others here if you purchase this bag, roll your blankets and place on either end of the bag... this will not only take up less space, but will also hold open the inside a little so you aren't pawing through as tight of a space when looking for something in the bottom of the bag.

I'm not a bag fanatic; I'm just a busy first time Mom who wanted something that would work well. I couldn't be happier with this diaper bag. It's almost perfect and I absolutely love it.
The main compartment is almost magical. It's large and deep, holds a ton, yet I somehow seem to be able to reach into the bag and instantly find what I need. I routinely keep a blanket, extra outfit, burp cloth, my wallet, and several toys in it comfortably. There are two pockets inside the bag, one for diapers and the other for wipes. Now that my son is older I only keep 5-7 diapers in there but when he was younger I kept about 10 in the bag with no problem. The bag is a perfect size for outings with a young child. On the outside there is a bottle holder for either a water bottle for nursing Mom or a milk bottle for baby on one side and a cell phone pocket on the other side. Two pockets on the front hold small items like keys or small toys. The bag is comfortable to carry over my shoulder and when it's on my shoulder it stays put so I don't have to fuss with the bag while I'm tending to my son. More often, though, the bag is on my stroller where it fits perfectly. The bag also stands up easily on its own so I can easily get to what I need while I'm holding my baby. Before I bought the bag I was concerned about the closures on the pockets. I actually really like them. The closures are strong magnets that stay closed when you want them to stay closed but more importantly they don't make it too difficult to quickly reach in when you need something like a burp cloth quickly. The closure combined with how deep the bag is means that I've never had a problem with items spilling out of the bag if it gets knocked over. Also, the bag is very durable and holds up well. I've been using the bag constantly for the last 9+ months and the bag still looks like new. I also bought the Skip Hop Pacifier Pocket - Black to use with the bag and I think it's a nice addition. There are two negatives I have about the bag. First, it doesn't come with a wipes case, but those are easy to find and buy. Second, the changing pad is a little small but I've been using it for months without problem. I highly recommend this bag.

With all the expensive trendy embroidery diaper bags out there, this one is much better and worth the price.
I chose this over the embroidery ones because these can be cleaned with good old soap and water. The others need to be dry cleaned! * The Duo Deluxe has many pockets which are ideal for someone who likes to put various things in different places. * The Shoulder strap and padded section is just right, even for shorter people * The uptown stripe (that I have) is great because of the many colors, and I don't feel like I clash with my clothes or stroller (red). * The stroller clips, is what sold me on this bag, and I am EVER so thankful for them. You can buy separate clips for most other diaper bags, but those cost half the total cost of this bag. * It has turned into my purse, since I don't need to carry a separate purse with this bag. * It is deep which is nice for us cloth diaper users. * It sits upright when placed on the floor and has never toppled over even when I cram everything in. It could be a little bit wider at the base, but then it would be bulkier, so all in all it's perfect! GREAT PRICE!

I got this bag for traveling since it has so many pockets. We just took it on a trip and it was great. I love the pockets on the front to easily get something or put something in, like a toy or pacifier. The side mesh holder was able to hold my sons two handled sippy cup and the cell phone pocket is awesome. I like the two pockets on the top of the bag. These aren't the kind you see on other bags. I was able to put diapers right there and get at them easily without having to dig in the bag. I also like the magnetic closures. I previously had the Spark by Skip Hop from Target, which is also a good bag but I didn't like the velcro because blankets and things would snag on it.
I love that you can carry this by one strap unlike the Spark with two straps and the way this attaches to a stroller is awesome! We kept it attached to our umbrella stroller for our trip and it worked great. When I first bought this my husband said, "oh no...another diaper bag" but after this trip he said "that was a really good buy; it worked out great for our trip" This is a good bag for traveling or everyday use depending on how much stuff you like to bring. I alternate between this one and my Petunia Pickle Bottom bag, which is more for style rather than this one is more practical but still very cute. I gave it 4 stars because when you do have stuff in the inside pockets it puffs out towards the inside making it a little hard to see or fit other stuff in there. The changing pad is a great size, but once your bag is full it's a little hard to get in and out of the back pocket (I find this to be true with most bags though). Overall I would say it's a very good bag and I would recommend it to a friend.

At last a diaper bag I don't regret purchasing...,

With a two year old and another baby on the way, I searched for a diaper bag that would work for both children and not look cheesy. I've bought several bags over the past few years from various manufacturers and this is by far the best. The Skip Hop Duo delivers on style, comfort, accessibility, and function.
It got its first test this weekend at the Saint Louis Zoo. The stroller clips really do work and keep the bag securly attached to the stroller. Not once did I have to detach it to get something in a pocket, everything was perfectly organized with the multiple pockets. Another bonus? All the pockets have super powerful magnets (or zippers) that hold closed despite how much you shove in the bag, so no one can look down and see whats in your bag. I was asked multiple times "What type of bag is that?" and "Where did you get it?" Of course, this is a great affirmation. The only negative was the strange smell I noticed when the bag first arrived. It could've been my pregnant nose, but it had a strange chemical odor. I ended up leaving it on the back porch overnight and the smell was gone.

I have the Skip Hop Duo in Blossom. Kinda sporty style, mod & pretty, too! I'm pregnant with my 2nd child & have an almost 2 yr old. My kids will be 21 months apart. I did not research diaper bags with my first baby. I just bought or registered for what I liked and seemed affordable. I wound up with a beautiful laptop-looking herringbone dipe bag from Wal-Mart that was huge & when slung over my shoulder, the straps were too short! I'm 5ft. 1 in. & petite btw. I bought a GORGEOUS Bella Tunno bag from Gap, but it was too large for everyday trips to the store or friend's homes. Then I bought a Land's End tote with monogramming. Classic, could be used later, but my son was walking by this point and after a day at the mall play area, I realized I needed a smaller, hands-free option. I ended up using my free Similac dipe bag from the hospital. As a gal who loves purses, this was functional, but not ideal. I researched like crazy this time from websites to magazines to watching youtube vids (very helpful). It came down to the Serena & Lily Gypsy tote ($164), JJ Cole System 180 ($70-80), JJ Cole Mode ($60) & this Skip Hop Duo.
S & Lily was out not only because of the much higher price, but I needed something a bit more practical with pockets on the outside at this point (I still want this bag, though, maybe a Christmas gift!). The System 180 was still a bit larger than what I was looking for, but great for longer trips! The Mode had great reviews, but what sold me on Skip Hop Duo was the built in Shuttle Clips, I never have to worry about forgetting them like with JJ Coles Grips. Plus, I wanted something a bit more streamlined & it looks more like a bag you might take to work (I'm a high school teacher, now SAHM). It's true that once you start filling up the outside pockets, the inside gets cramped, but this forces me to take a bit less. I've packed it for 2 kids already. I keep 4 dipes & change pad in large back pocket, clothes (in bottom)& snacks (on top) in the main compartment and then find places for all the little stuff. The small zip pocket on top is perfect for my lipgloss, sunglasses & wallet (you just have to have a smaller wallet). PERFECT For a run to the store or friend's home. I decided if I'm going somewhere like the zoo, I'll pack this Dipe bag same as above, I always take in a mini softsided cooler for snacks/drinks. Then I'll keep my Land's End Tote in the car stocked for the actual rare emergencies when I need 3 changes of clothes and tons of diapers. The over packing for emergencies is what does me in sometimes, so I'm willing just to keep a tote in the car for the extras that many times aren't needed. Oh and get the pacifier pocket! I love this thing. Frees up more space in the bag. Wish I had one with my son. Long review! Hope that helps.

If I could give this diaper bag a hundred stars, I would. It is absolutely everything I have ever wanted in a diaper bag, and as my husband can attest, I have tried just about every diaper bag on the market! Think of anything and everything you are looking for in a diaper bag, I guarantee you this bag has it and more! Skip Hop has thought of every contingency and has put together a diaper bag for every parent. It is roomy but not bulky...Right now, in my diaper bag, I have 6 size three diapers, a formula dispenser, Boogie Wipes, mittens, a snack container that will hold six ounces of his puffs, the Skip Hop Wipes container, my iPad, all of my sons medicines (which include Vicks baby rub, nose drops, baby Tylenol, baby Oragel, tummy soother, and a baby vitamin), two pacifiers, baby nail clippers, diaper rash ointment, hand sanitizer, the included changing pad, my things (including lip balms, meds and keys) Sophie the Giraffe, and my big Paul Frank blanket. And that's almost all inside the main pocket, with room still in the outside pockets! It holds a ton and doesn't even feel bulky and thanks to the cushioned shoulder strap, it doesn't dig into your shoulder either! It's got a cell phone pocket on the side, and a mesh bottle or 20 ounce Coke holder for mom or dad as well. The design is super cute and makes me feel like I have a bit of my own personality still and am not just mom with a frumpy diaper bag. With this bag, I don't need to carry a purse, which makes travel and going through stores so much easier. I've never had the shoulder strap slip down my arm either, something a lot of other diaper bags do, which makes it annoying to hold your diaper bag and a baby and push a stroller all at the same time. This also has a convenient clip, which makes attaching to your stroller a cinch! I've had so much trouble with past diaper bags hanging too low, or with most of the JuJuBe bags (I had the JuJuBe BeAll) you have to buy an additional accessory to be able to clip it onto your stroller. I wish that I had bought this diaper bag right from the get-go, because I would have saved myself SO much money in diaper bags and saved myself the headache of carrying three bags around the stores. I adore this bag and would recommend it to any parent!
