Great information for the beginning boater.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Skipper's Safe Boating Course (Paperback)
Factual, well organized presentation of boating safety information. However, after you complete the "End of Course Exam" and you mail it in, you don't receive your course completion certificate. The address listed in the book to send your completed exam is non-existant according to the phone company. Additionally, the Coast Guard Auxillary "Office of Boating Safety" isn't familiar with their ties to the publication and doesn't know anything about the sending out your course completion certificates. I guess you buy the book for the information but don't send for the "Skipper's Course" certificate- I haven't received mine and haven't been able to find anyone who has anything to do with this course.

The Skipper's boat is very good for the new boater. It is now owned and printed by BoatsUS at 1-800-336-2628. Check with your State to make sure it is still accepted for certification and meeting the new State Laws. In Nevada we invite home completed course takers to come to our one day BSC class and get some hands-on experience. We then give a proctored exam that meets the conditions of all State, National, and Coast Guard criteria. Our State phone number is 1-775-852-5557, if you wish more info.

This review is from: Skipper's Safe Boating Course (Paperback)
This is a very comprehensive guide that provides basic information about safe boating. It includes topics such as understanding the Lateral Waterway System and how to read buoys, day markers and flags. It talks about hypothermia, safe fueling and on and on. I do not understand why the prior reviewer did not receive his certificate. The contact is the USCG Auxilliary 9449 Watson Industrial Parkway St Louis MO 63123 314-962-8828.
