amazon over charging big time,
This review is from: Skippy Natural Creamy Peanut Butter, 16.3-Ounce Jars (Pack of 12) (Grocery)
while I have rated the item with 5 stars because of the product itself, not the sale from Amazon.
I was on line trying to find this product in bulk. Amazon sells this product 12 jars for $30.90 which abmounts to $2.575 per jar. It is soooo much cheaper to buy this in a grocery store. Thus, I don't recommend purchasing it thru Amazon

Great Peanut Butter,

This review is from: Skippy Natural Creamy Peanut Butter, 16.3-Ounce Jars (Pack of 12) (Grocery)
While not simply made from peanuts and salt, this is great peanut butter. I've bought other brands of natural peanut butter for several years, and while needing to stir them certainly isn't the end of the world, it does get annoying. Besides that, the taste of other brands--while okay--seemed to lack something.
Skippy, on the other hand, does taste great... I think it is better than any other brand or type of peanut butter. I am a "moderate" health nut and I do not consider the sugar and palm oil to be that bad. 2 grams of sugar won't kill you. Palm oil, while it does contain saturated fat, it is also a natural source of vitamins A and E. As for the saturated fat, unless you are eating a whole container of peanut butter a day or have other major sources of saturated fat, it won't kill you.

Ok guys lay off the Palm Oil bashing,

Yes palm oil is a saturated fat. The reason Palm Oil is added to things like peanut butter is to keep them shelf stable without going rancid. The peanut butter most of us grew up with contains partially hydrogenated oils. Either type of Oil acts to keep the natural peanut oil from separating in the jar. Technically you could do the same thing with mono or poly unsaturated fats but the shelf life would be significantly reduced and we would most likely be urged to keep our PB in the fridge. Nutritionists are divided on just exactly how bad for you trans-fats are but most of them have decided that in moderation saturated fat is better for you than trans-fats. The result. The industry is returning to the saturated fats that trans-fats once replaced. Trans or Saturated the amount of other fats added to virtually all peanut butter is so small (around .5g per serving) it poses only a limited health risk (pure peanut butter will have around 2.5g saturated fat before additions). And yes this is a natural peanut butter. The Palm oil, sugar, and salt have not been chemically altered hence Natural. That does not mean pure.

Bait and switch,
By Harrison Bergeron (New Hampshire, The Free State) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Skippy Natural Creamy Peanut Butter, 16.3-Ounce Jars (Pack of 12) (Grocery)
Skippy pulls the worst kind of nonsense with this product - claiming it's all natural, which is technically true, but also implying that since it's natural, it's healthy, which is false for this product since they ruined it. Real peanut butter contains one ingredient: peanuts, and maybe a dash of salt. Nothing else. Real peanut butter is very good for you. Skippy adds palm oil, a tropical oil which, while it's slightly better than some other tropical oils, still contains saturated fats and is completely unnecessary, to this "spread". Why? So the poor widdle you doesn't have to spend a whole four seconds stirring it. Of course, this would all be a lot more clear if amazon actually had the nutrition labels available, but they don't - nor do they carry ANY kind of actual all-natural peanut butter.
Skip this, skip all the so-called "peanut butters" carried here, and go to your local store to get some real natural peanut butter. Look at the label - if it has any other ingredient than peanuts and salt, put it back on the shelf. Nothing else is necessary.

Over Priced (Cheaper at Grocery Store),
By
This review is from: Skippy Natural Creamy Peanut Butter, 16.3-Ounce Jars (Pack of 12) (Grocery)
This is $2.50 per jar at my local grocery store. No bargain here considering I'm forced to buy a 12 pack. For the record, all the ingredients in this product occur in nature, thus it is Natural. For people who want our Peanut Butter to taste like Peanut Butter and still not have chemicals, this is a great product. Just don't buy it here if you want a bargain.

Have tried quite a few natural peanut butters but this one is really good. No oil to mix up, smooth and creamy and full of peanut taste. Skippy did a great job.

Normal peanut butter without trans fat (or any other fake fat) or HFCS,
By
This review is from: Skippy Natural Creamy Peanut Butter, 16.3-Ounce Jars (Pack of 12) (Grocery)
This is not health food store peanut butter. It is traditional grocery store variety peanut butter without the nasty stuff in it. Saturated fat is NEEDED in small quantities and sugar is questionable, but trans fat is all bad (no redeeming qualities whatsoever) and HFCS has been shown to interfere with your bodies ability to tell when it's full. My family were Peter Pan addicts and this has the same flavor and texture, but it much better for us.

This is the best Peanut Butter product ever produced by major American food service company.
If you're expecting "peanuts and salt" with separated oil and a rock-hard refrigerated consistency after opening, this is not that product. If, however, you dislike most of those products -- which are more annoying to eat than many people find to be worthwhile -- this is what you've been waiting for. It uses a natural tropical oil, which has a naturally long shelf-life, as opposed to the disastrously unhealthy "alternative" of hydrogenated oils. Many people panic over seeing "saturated", but that is exactly the sort of grossly uninformative evaluation that led us to using the (far more deadly) hydrogenated oils to begin with -- advice which is frankly unforgivable. Learn about fats for yourself, and make the right decisions. I recommend "Know your fats", available right here on Amazon. If you want the most healthy peanut butter you can get, grind your own and eat it fresh, and congratulate yourself for fantastic self-discipline and patience. For the rest of us, we need more products like this. Finally, a "grown-up" version of an American food product.
