4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Shoulder Strap!
When Tumi informed me that they were not going to honor their traditional lifetime warrantee on my worn-but-treasured leather laptop bag, and then tried to sell me on buying a new one, my first thought was to do something really cool with it on YouTube that might cause attention to their sloppy customer service.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but Could Be Better
I replaced an old strap that I had with this Skooba one; the old strap had a fantastically comfortable, thick neoprene pad on it, with non-slip rubber where it contacted with the shoulder. From what I recall, it cost about $30 and it wore out after 4 years of constant use, which I consider to be quite good. I wanted to buy another, but the store that I bought it at...

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Shoulder Strap!, October 16, 2008

When Tumi informed me that they were not going to honor their traditional lifetime warrantee on my worn-but-treasured leather laptop bag, and then tried to sell me on buying a new one, my first thought was to do something really cool with it on YouTube that might cause attention to their sloppy customer service.

But since I didn't want to part with my bag (it probably has 2.5 million miles on it -- I travel a LOT!), and I'm too cheap to buy another one, I decided against it.

So as part of my "living with it" strategy I ordered a new strap (Skooba) for the bag and used it for the first time this week. It's fantastic! It makes the bag feel lighter, more comfortable, and more stable on my shoulder.

If you travel a lot, and have a relatively heavy laptop bag like I do, this is a no brainer -- highly recommend this item!

5.0 out of 5 stars Super strap, January 7, 2009

I bought this strap along with the Skooba "checkpoint-friendly" bag for my husband (frequent flier) for Christmas. I was unsure from the description of the bag whether it came with a strap at all. It does, but it is a very basic one and not as comfortable as the superbungee strap. For the few extra dollars, the much better comfort seems to be well worth it.

I bought this to go with my check point friendly laptop case and really like. Very comfortable and doesn't slip off your shoulder.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very heavy duty., December 10, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a very heavy duty shoulder strap, and would likely support 20~30lbs. The suspension system is also quite nice, and makes the strap feel like it's not there.

The attachment clips are metal, and heavy duty as well.

The only downside to this is that I am a tall guy, and the strap is just a bit short. Fully extended, the strap is about 54" long. If it were 60~64" long, it would have been perfect.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good strap, but not great, January 27, 2010

I have been using this strap for about 6 months. I am using it with a Kensington laptop bag. I fly every week for work so am always hurrying around the airport. My laptop bag is probably heavier than the average traveler due to my super extended battery (a slice is what they call it I think) + various papers for work. Overall, this strap is a significant improvement over the thinly padded stock strap that came with my bag -- but based on the reviews and description I thought it was going to be a HUGE improvement...almost to the point where it would be effortless to carry the laptop bag. But alas, if I wanted it to be effortless, I guess I would just get a rolling laptop bag.

Anyway, if I could give 3.5 stars I would have. Don't get me wrong, it's a good, well-built strap, but I was really expecting it to make a world of difference. So if that's what you're expecting, you might want to pass. It will be better, just not 10x better. Probably more like 3x better.

On a side note, my co-workers have commented on how it looks like it would make a big difference. The huge Skooba logo doesn't really bother me, but I can see how it does make it look slightly unprofessional as another reviewer suggested.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but, September 12, 2009

The shoulder strap is more comfortable than the one it replaced. But ..

- the really prominent SKOOBA makes it feel less professional
- it squeaks against the metal clips of the bag (I don't remember the original strap doing that)

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but Could Be Better, May 18, 2010

I replaced an old strap that I had with this Skooba one; the old strap had a fantastically comfortable, thick neoprene pad on it, with non-slip rubber where it contacted with the shoulder. From what I recall, it cost about $30 and it wore out after 4 years of constant use, which I consider to be quite good. I wanted to buy another, but the store that I bought it at closed, and I couldn't find it on the Internet anywhere.

Anyway, so this Skooba one seemed like the closest thing. The air pockets on the skooba shoulder pad are ok, but not nearly as comfortable as a thick foam/neoprene pad - and they're non-slip-ish, but not amazingly gripping. On the upside, it's very sturdy and I imagine that it will last at least 4 years... assuming that the little air pockets don't wear out and deflate.

Bottom line: Comfort and grip on the shoulder when compared to other straps is average. Durability seems above-average.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful strap at a decent price!, April 14, 2010

Well, to start, I am really glad I bought this strap! I put up with the one that came with the bag, for too long! It was always slipping off my shoulder, and hurt my arm a couple of times catching all of the weight with my elbow, OUCH! Anyway, that was not my primary reason for buying this strap. My main problem was that the latches on the original strap were plastic with a metal part on it that looked like half a paper clip, and worked about as well, and at times when I would pick it up, the metal part would fly off, I could tell when it would happen and I was like someone looking for a contact lens! Anyway, I got tired of that happening, and started my search for the better strap! And I found the Skooba R730 Superbungee Strap! This strap has a complete metal latch on both ends, and while they are a little difficult to get on to some models of laptop bags (mentioned in another review) they had to be forced onto mine, but after playing with them a while, I figured out a way to work it off and on the bag. My laptop bag, from Case Logic, is still great, but with the Skooba strap, it's even better! It rarely slips off my shoulder, once to date, and the clips haven't failed me at all, and that is why I bought this strap! If that is your reason for looking, your search has ended! You will love this great strap! Thanks to everyone who read this review, and I hope you found it helpful!

5.0 out of 5 stars Carry strap review, March 31, 2009

Great strap for carrying heavy loads; it lightens the loads. The only problem is that the gate cannot open for large rings.

4.0 out of 5 stars Definitely a Help, February 15, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This strap is "heavy duty" in its construction, and handsome in its appearance. I used it to replace the lame stock strap on my Tumi attache. The first few times I used it, it was comfortable enough, but only marginally effective at mitigating the load. The bungee didn't seem to have enough "give". I've have since manually stretched it out to help brake it in, and that has helped. Works best under the heaviest loads. Excellent product, which I hope will improve as it ages.
