Product Description

The Skull Candy Double Agent Headphones earned their name by double-crossing and rendering obsolete any headphones best friend, the MP3 player. These two-faced bastards decided that they not only dont need a cord to pump killer sound, they dont even need a separate music player. Just load up the included 1GB SD card (or any other size SD card) with all your favorite beats, pop it in the slot on the Double Agent and go. If your conscience wont let you backstab your MP3 player so coldly, you can still use these ear-goggles with a standard 3.5mm jack.

4.0 out of 5 stars (mostly) Just the facts, December 25, 2008
Originally I was looking for some sort of wireless headphone to work with a non-bluetooth MP3 player, and wasn't able to find anything without an adapter that was generally larger than the player itself. I had been checking these out as a potential solution, but could not find any reviews that weren't straight from the companies description of the product, to help me decide. My BF solved my indecision and just bought them for me.

Personally, I love them, but I can see a lot of things other people may not like. Here's just the facts.

1.Wireless and really light.

2.The sound is not Connoisseur quality. If you are used to cheap earbuds like me, then they are fine, if you favor a robust pair of Sennheisers, I wouldn't risk it. Low and bassy, but the highs are muffled.

3.Headset is tight, which although good for me, may not be good for people with larger heads or who are more sensitive to excessive pressure on their ears. The good side is they don't fall off during anything, jogging, gym, working on projects, random frolicking in your house, etc.

4.I dig the oddball color combinations, but other people may find them too flashy. There is an all-black one however.

5.Interface is totally no frills. play/pause, volume, and next. You can put your music on it in folders, but not actually jump from folder to folder. (or at least the instructions don't tell say you can.)Again, plus for me, waste less time preparing my music and spend more time actually hitting the gym, but could be a minus for many.

5. No shuffle feature. I never use shuffle. (going from classical to house to black metal in 10 minutes makes me neurotic..)

6. Hour long charge gets you about 8 hours of play. charge via USB.(joy!)

7. You can very clearly hear button clicks while wearing them. Not so good if you want to go 50 songs forward.

8. Comes with a cord to plug into an mp3 player if needed.

9. Interface and charge are totally USB plug and play.

10.Comes with 1 GIG SD.

11. Buttons are easy to reach and press, but the symbols are not very raised. May take a few trys to get the right button before you get used to it.

Basically, if you just need a no-frills wireless solution for an active lifestyle, these fit the bill. What I imagine to be the big issues for most people are the sound quality and the tightness. Although I am very pleased with them, I would advise most people to try them on and listen to them first if you can.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not worth it..., August 3, 2009
I had been looking for wireless headphones for some time now...I was convinced I'd get a Bluetooth headphone set, so that I could wirelessly play music from my music phone (LG Dare), but I decided against it after reading bad reviews on Amazon that said the Bluetooth set in question frequently lost connections, etc. So I decided to get the Skullcandy Double Agent headphones instead, in order to meet the wireless features without worrying about lost connections.

The Double Agents look cool enough...I really like Skullcandy for putting effort into designing their products. The two things about these headphones that I didn't like were comfort and the use of the SD card. The sound, on the other hand, is subpar when compared to other Skullcandy headphones, but reasonable. I'll explain below:

COMFORT
Maybe I'm spoiled because I got a pair of Skullcandy Skullcrushers in the same order as these, but the Double Agents were not nearly as comfortable as the Skullcrushers. They were tight on my head, and it felt as if the earcups were not fitted correctly (I put on L on my Left and R on my Right, but still felt like something was off...). Not painfully uncomfortable, but not as comfortable as other Skullcandy headphones out there either

SD CARD
A brilliant idea on the part of Skullcandy, the fact that you are wireless since you listen to music off of an SD card can become an inconvenience when you realize there is no 'Shuffle' feature. You WILL get tired of listening to songs in the same order in which you transferred them to your card!

SOUND QUALITY
The quality is sub-par, especially when compared to my Skullcandy Skullcrushers! There is bass, but it's not too strong, and being a big fan of bass I'm not too thrilled with that :-) Either way, I knew I was buying these more for the convenience of being wireless than for awesome sound, so I'm not too upset...

FINAL THOUGHTS
The fact that these headphones aren't the most comfortable in the world, combined with the lack of a shuffle feature can make the Double Agents frustrating. The sound quality, while not up to par with other headphones, is pretty decent considering you're listening off an SD card that frees you from wires (FYI, you can listen to them wired, but that defeats the purpose of wireless headphones!). The battery life is pretty decent (about 8 hours a charge), which means you can take these on the go, only thing that would have made them more useful is if they could bend or fold up.

All in all, these seem like a great concept, but it's almost as if they were rushed out. No shuffle, no foldable design, for a pair of headphones in this day and age makes me wonder how much harder it would have been to include those features! Nevertheless, I don't regret my purchase, so while I can't wholeheartedly endorse, I can say they're not bad if you don't mind the aforementioned inconveniences.

If you're looking to sport a new pair of headphones, I'd recommend the Skullcrushers instead Skullcandy SCS-SCBP3.5 Skullcrushers Subwoofer Stereo Headphones (Black Pinstripe). The Double Agents aren't bad, but they're not that great, either. If you're looking for reliable wireless headphones, though, they are pretty good for the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for it's intended purpose, November 4, 2008
I like the Skullcandy "Double Agent" for the same reason that I like the iPod shuffle: Simplicity. I can navigate through songs with the tap of my finger, and without fumbling around with the device in my hands and looking at a screen.

That's where the similarities end though. Granted, there are other headphones out there with built-in MP3 players as well, but I believe Skullcandy is the first to bring us this concept in conjunction with comfort and quality. These things feel great. The sound quality leaves a little bit to be desired, but it's still very good for most types of music.

There is ONE oddity about this product that took me a few days to figure out: Once an SD card loaded with songs is inserted into the earcup, what order are they played in? This confused me for a little bit. First of all, there is no "Shuffle" button (which is mainly why I took off a star). This is a feature that many ipod-shuffle-lovers would have appreciated, and it shouldn't have been hard to implement. But they didn't do it. So, do the songs just play in alphabetical order then? Nope, not that either. Not by songs, artists, albums, or anything... no alphabetization. This had me stumped for a while, until one day when I was loading additional songs, and I figured out that tracks simply play in the order that they are added. That's it. If you load a new song, it will be the last track that plays, and the songs will play in the same order one after another until the whole list repeats itself. Interesting to say the least.

Overall I recommend this to people who want a quick, on-the-go music solution that they can quickly slap on their head without fumbling with wires. They feel great, sound great, and with SD cards, you don't have to fool around with any type of proprietary drivers or software.
