False Advertising: Bad news for iPhone users, good for everyone else, May 14, 2008
When I was doing research to find a suitable set of speakers for my iPhone so I could listen to music at work, I stumbled upon these slick, stylish and space-saving speakers. When I purchased them, it had no reviews for it but searches online suggested it was a terrific purchase for iPod users. Feeling confident that a product that clearly states "...for iPod and iPhone" would be an acceptable purchase, I bit, only to see that the glossy exterior wasn't exactly what I expected.
As speakers, this product is pretty damn good. I'm using it in my office and, while I wish I could turn it down just a little more than I can, it's been a blessing. It's a lot smaller than the picture looks. To give you an idea, think of a paper towel cardboard roll in width, but the SkullCandy speakers sit at about 3/4th the length of the standard roll. So, the two speakers are obviously not very large but they put out a large sound. Don't expect a huge bass sound but it's still mighty considering the size.
The unit has volume control, can run on AAA batteries or a power supply and comes with various parts to work with other MP3 players like Nano, etc. The speakers also comes with a handy remote with everything you'll want on it: volume control, forward/backward skip, play/pause, shuffle, repeat, and then the menu/select controls and up/down/left/right controls to maneuver through menus. My biggest complaint for the remote is that the battery slider appears to be stuck on my model and I'm not sure I'll be able to get the watch battery out when it needs to be replaced. Additionally, you have to aim it directly at the speakers or it won't work very often.
So far so good. But it isn't compatible with the iPhone exactly, as you'll learn when you first plug it in. In order for the iPhone to work with the speakers, you'll have to put the phone in "airplane mode," meaning you won't be able to receive or make phone calls or use basically any feature that uses the service or Wifi (internet, email, stocks, weather, etc.). If you don't put it in airplane mode, you'll hear a very loud buzzing sound from the speakers as the phone interferes. Not fun. I also don't like how the iPhone rests in the divet. It's a tad wobbly and not a perfect fit; unfortunately, it doesn't come with anything to make it fit better.
I'm torn with this product. As speakers, it's a great purchase and I'd recommend it heartily for those looking for a space-saving set of speakers that sounds good at both low and high volume, without that annoying tinny sound that plagues a lot of small speakers. For that, it's definitely a four star product.
That said, if you're looking for a good pair of speakers for your iPhone, think twice about it.

Not "truly" iPhone compatible., May 9, 2008
I ordered this because it claimed to be iPhone compatible, and just received it. As soon as I plugged my iPhone in the message appeared on the iPhone that it's not compatible, asking if I want to switch to Airplane mode, and it made extremely loud "chatter" noises from the iPhone interference. That to me does not count as "iPhone compatible", because in Airplane mode I can't receive calls. I have found speakers that are truly iPhone compatible, but was looking for a simpler design with less wires. This isn't it. Looks like a well-built item, nice design, remote would be handy, but since it's not iPhone compatible it's highly NOT recommended for iPhone owners.

Mine works with iphone, April 1, 2009
I tried it out in the store and it worked fine, charged the iphone as well, Nothing beats the Bose Sounddock but for traveling on longer trips and in hotel rooms or at the beach for $[...] bucks it is the best sounding smallest size unit I have come across.
