I've never been too big on this band. I listened to Enter The Grave, thought they were solid but I didn't know if they were worth spending money over and all. So as a new fan of this band, I will say I am pleased to have this in my collection. The riffs on the album are incredibly catchy. The first track, "Underworld" has a nice Megadeth throwback to it. The drumming isn't the best of all the thrash bands. BUT. The vocals are great. The "Underworld" chorus proves that. "Skull" is next and has a dreadful feeling to it. Sounds like Master Of Puppets era Metallica in a way. This track also contains an onslaught of riffs. The break down to the mid pace riff is excellent. The solo is impressive as well. "The Naked Sun" has some of the best drumming so far on the album. Lyrical wise, its apocalyptic, which I love. If you like East Coast gang shouts, you have them here. The fourth track has a Slayer(ish) intro. A mid pace riff crushes through the whole song. "Tomb" this is where Evile hits a stroke of genius. The melodic intro fits the sorrow filled track so well. It is honestly a hauntingly beautiful track. Almost like Testament's "Cold Embrace" from Dark Roots of Earth. Powerful, and beautiful, while still retaining its brutality. An amazing track. "Words Of The Dead" compared to the previous track it is a little bit of let down. It still retains its attitude. The drumming is the high note with some of the most intense on the album. "Outsider" EXPLODES from the beginning. It has a great riff to lead the whole song and the solo is great as well. "What You Become" a post thrash mid pace groove metal riff chugs along for the whole track. The chorus is great. "New Truth, Old Lies" the closer to this 2013 metal attack. Half way through the track we hear another Slayer influenced solo.Read more ›

Wow, have loved this band since the first record and to see the skill just grow is awesome. The rerelease of the first CD with DVD of them playing the whole album in their practice space sold me on their potential future and the new record shows it.

This the fourth release should be the breakout album. Every metalhead should buy this now. Great riffs, solos and production make this a crisp and cutting thrash record. Have not stopped listening since I got it. Usually listen to audiobooks on my commute but this has taken over. Just hope no speeding tickets happen :)

Again, buy this now if you like early Metallica, Overkill etc....you will not be disappointed.

This is one of the best if not better albums Evile has done. After a few listens I was unable to put it away. I just crank it and keep it going. This is well worth the money in my opinion. Unfortunately I am only able to give it 5 stars where it really deserves 10. The only downside is Amazon was authorized to add an extended version of New truths, old lies. Its a fantastic song just not suitable where iTunes has a different song. Oh well, not complaining. A masterpiece in my opinion.

Great album. Lots of kick ass guitar solos and riffs with good bass, drums, and vocals. Evile keeps putting out killer albums and hope they continue to.

I'll start off by saying that I am one of the biggest Metallica fans on the planet so obviously I was gonna eventually be drawn to a band that started off as a Metallica cover band.... Evile however is SO DAMN MUCH MORE than a Metalli-clone like some of the failed thrash bands of the current era. I have enjoyed every single song on every single album that these guys have crafted and I don't think they're gonna slow down anytime soon. This album is tied with Five Serpents Teeth as my favorite but the other 2 are amazing as well. They just keep getting better and if you like thrash there is no reason you will not enjoy this band. There are definitely alot of Metallica influences in here but also Slayer, Megadeth, and Testament moments but this band is one that doesn't just copy their heroes, they have taken modern thrash to another level. The songs on here are fast, well produced, and flawlessly played. They even thro in a ballad called "Tomb" which I think is one of the best songs I have heard of any genre in a long time. Honestly people, nothing more needs to be said except that this is a modern thrash release and if you dig thrash, you should buy this. They lost their wonderful guitarist Ol Drake after this cd because of the lack of supprt for this band and the Heavy Metal community in general and that saddens me. Support Metal and the artists that create it or we won't have it anymore and I don't want to live in a world without Metal..... Evile is a band to watch and I hope you find them and get their other 3 albums as well because they deserve to be heard\m/

Interesting that Evile has only been around almost ten years, but their sound covers 30 plus years of thrash metal. In no way do these guys rip anybody off. If anything, they're paying tribute to old school thrash. Anybody that hasn't been impressed by what the older bands are doing lately should look to bands like Evile. These guys do Metallica better than Metallica themselves. Skull was my introduction to these guys, and after listening, I had to get the other three. So if you're new and wondering which album to start with, any album is actually good. Sucks that lead guitarist Ol Drake left soon after this album came out, but don't think for a second that he slacked on his performance.
