I'm sure the dimensions are listed somewhere so I don't have anyone to blame but myself. It is much smaller than I thought it would be. When I pulled it out of the box I thought "There is NO WAY this is going to be loud enough". I wanted it as a jukebox location in my living room where I could hear it throughout the house while I went about my daily business. However, I am pleasantly surprised that this thing manages to do just fine in getting quality sound to several rooms in my house. It isn't as big as I thought, but it's just as loud as I thought with virtually no distortion.

I'm very happy with my purchase.

I bought this speaker/dock for my wife for Christmas. She loves it and so do I. The sound is surprisingly clean, crisp and full. If some think it lacks bass, I would challenge them to find an equally compact unit with the kind of "deep, rich" bass they're apparently looking for.

We use it with the iPod Nano(6th gen.)which was also part of the gift. Together they are compact, dynamic technology.

A note to those who intend to use it with the Nano: You may want to get a Sendstation dock extender because the Nano sits low in the unit making the bottom row of touchscreen icons difficult to use. For us, it's not an issue worth spending the extra $20+ for an extender.

I docked 1 star from my review, because I found it hard to install the four AAA batteries. The cover doesn't feel secure and the playback has cut out a couple of times while using it without the power cord. We don't move the dock around very much so it's not an issue.

One last note about the iPod Nano/Skullcandy Pipe combination. I realized too late that the iPod's radio function doesn't work while stationed in the dock. This was our first iPod, and I didn't realize the headphone leads served as the antenna so you can't play the radio without plugging in the headphones and you can't dock the iPod with the headphones plugged in.

To sum up: Great sound. Sleek design. Extremely portable. Can't play iPod radio in dock.

I'll give the Skullcandy Pipe 3 stars because the first one I purchased (not from amazon.com) and subsequently returned for a replacement, was defective. If I finagled with it, I could get both speakers to work. When both speakers were working, the sound was crisp and clean and the volume was audible enough to fill a small bedroom with sound, but out of the box the right side speaker of my Pipe didn't work properly; it sort of hissed, crackled and popped. One thing to note is that it's difficult to depress the button at the bottom-center of the iPod when the iPod is in the Pipe's dock due to the depth at which the iPod sits in the dock, so the included remote control is essential. While this doesn't affect performance, it's an annoyance to access the iPod's menu, such as to change tunes, without the remote and so I consider this a design flaw, but I'm not sure if the flaw is with design of the iPod or the Pipe. The Pipe is approximately 9" in length and 1-1/2" in diameter. Many reviewers commented that it was larger [or smaller] than they expected, but it's the perfect size for a dresser or nightstand, has a lower profile than the majority of docking stations currently on the market, and isn't too big to be portable. There are 2 rubber feet on the underside at front and a rubber foot that cleverly installs over the slide release for the battery cover, so the Pipe doesn't roll. You can power the Pipe with the included A/C wall adapter or by installing 4 AAA batteries (not included). A docking station with larger speakers will produce a fuller sound, but for what this is, at a price point of around $60, the Pipe is a good choice.

UPDATE 2/2/12: Replacement pipe is doing the same thing as the first. After only a few weeks of use, docking and undocking the ipod from the Pipe, the connection between the dock and the iPod is worn and the connection to the speakers is failing. I suppose this is just how they are, but Skullcandy should better design the dock.

I have purchased 3 of these in the last couple of years. One sits at home in the work out area, so I play music from the IPOD or other MP3 Player. One is a replacement for the one that I managed to finally break. It was dropped, kicked, smacked, sprayed and otherwise abused for about 3 years before it finally gave up the ghost.

The sound on this will rival that of Bose, but for a 1/4 of the price. I am bit of an Audiophile, though not died in the wool, but my music is important to me, and it must sound good. For the size and the price, you could do some serious 'personal DJ'ing' in a small areas 40x40. I can run people out of regular living room with the Volume, and it doesn't distort like the other small speakers I have had, by good brand name companies to boot.

This a sleeper product, if you haven't heard them your missing a lot. For when you want music with out the headphones but with the clarity and volume of something several times its size, you can't beat this...

Well you can, and eventually it will break, but you get the point.

I bought the black Skullcandy of the previous model. After using it for about 9 months, I noticed that the sound started to get distorted and bass-heavy tracks began "buzzing" frequently. I modified the EQ on my iPod and lowered the bass, seeing if it would help, but it didn't. At around this time, the connection between the DC power adapter and the device started to go bad (apparently a common problem). Every time I wanted sound to come out of BOTH speakers, I had to fiddle with the connection and play a balancing game to get it to work. I figured it wasn't so bad because I used it for almost a year. Keep in mind, I take excellent care of my products and the Skullcandy pipe dock was no exception. It never even left my house.

Fast forward a couple months. I purchased this newer model to replace my previous Skullcandy pipe. After very light use for about six months, I noticed the same problems surfacing. Distortions in the sound, buzzing, and one of the speakers randomly stops working. They obviously have not made improvements to the weaknesses of the older design. I am disappointed in the poor quality of the products. Although the sound is crisp, clear (don't expect much bass out of this thing) and powerful for its size, I can't justify buying another Skullcandy product due to the poor quality. If you do a little research and Google Skullcandy, or go to forums/review sites for headphones, you'll find a lot of consumer complaints about the bad quality of Skullcandy's products. Skullcandy has a "lifetime warranty" because if they didn't offer it, no one would buy their products anymore as they break all the time.

For the size of the dock and the price range, the sound is great, but don't expect your dock to last very long. I might consider putting their "lifetime warranty" to the test, but I'd prefer they made a GOOD, solid product as opposed to offering a great warranty for a product that is bound to break very quickly.
