What is Attacking Bass?

Most headphones' bass is either suppressed and muddy or exaggerated and boomy. Skullcandy's Supreme Sound “Attacking Bass” experience hits with punchy and powerful bass that's engineered for your music.

Highest-grade materials

Natural Vocals

You have probably heard headphones with hollow or tinny vocals that sound like they're coming from an AM radio. Supreme Sound lets you hear warm and smooth vocals as if you were standing beside your favorite singer.

Precision Highs

Skullcandy engineers their headphones to produce clean and spacious highs, not piercing or muted highs like you've probably heard in other headphones. Supreme Sound delivers perfect highs for the final element of an amazing audio experience.

I initially purchased Beats Studio Over-Ear Headphone (Black) for $300 after I had friends raving about how they're the coolest thing. Really dumb decision, because they have major sound leakage and are not noise canceling. I saw these Aviators as well, but thought, these are only $150 and Beats by Dre are $300...so Beats must be offering something more, right?

Wrong. Unless you include some extra fancy packaging and the annoying fact that you have to put batteries in the Beats headphones as being pros, then these win by a long shot. They are a $100 cheaper and noise canceling is so much better, hardly any sound leakage (people around me stopped complaining), and are very comfortable. I think these are a good deal for the price and the only reason they're not $300 is because they don't have the name Dr. Dre associated with it.

So, I have had the headphones for about three days now, and all i have to say is that I am a very satisfied customer. (keep in mind that i got these for $120)

First Impressions:
Fresh out of the box, the sound was very clear. the lows mids and highs were all pretty good. The box it comes in is very well made, the unboxing experience was a very pleasant one.

Burn In: i played white noise through these for about three hours

Aesthetics, Build and Comfort: these headphones look fantastic, and the build quality is quite good. The brown earcups are actually translucent, allowing you to see the wiring and drivers inside of the cup. The stainless steel headband looks very good, and holds the headphones firm against your head. As for cushioning, the earcups are very soft. I have used them for 5 hours+ at a time, and have yet to experience any discomfort.

Sound: After the burn in, I played a wide variety of music through these headphones including Hip Hop, Pop, Dubstep, Electrohouse, alternative and classical rock, Classical, and Jazz. Overall, my experience has been very good. The bass is rich without being overpowering. It has a very full sound, and isn't muddy at all unlike some other rapper endorsed headphones (beats, i'm looking at you). The mids are clear, and very vibrant. I had been using a pair of klipsch s4's before the aviators, and compared to those, i was able to hear much more detail. i also have a pair of B&O A8's and the mids are about on par with that, so i am very happy. Really the only place where i feel like this product could be improved on for this particular price point. Particularly in classical music, there are some points where i feel like the highs aren't vibrant enough. the feel is just a bit flat, but i've only experienced this on a few tracks, so though it could be better, i'm not really complaining too much about that.

Overall this is an amazing product, and i am very satisfied with my purchase.

I was never a believer in Skullcandy, having often passed them off as a Skateboarder, young-adult oriented brand with low-end music quality. The Skullcandy Skullcrushers really turned around this image for me (I purchased them using a bunch of giftcards, on a whim). I'm not one to skimp on headphone purchases and this often horrifies people around me (Read: Friends and Family). Headphones are a very important purchase for me as I listen to a lot of music, all the time. I'm no audiophile, but audio-quality is of utmost importance to me, hence why I tend to pretty big. The Roc-Nation Aviators are a very, VERY unique pair of headphones, starting from the first thing that hits you - the LOOKS, right down to the audio performance itself. At the $150 price point, these are not cheap by any means and a rather hefty purchase. The market point it sits at is a very sensitive one with very capable competitors out there, and it all boils down to you, as a consumer, being able to point out exactly what you want and don't want/need from your purchase. For me, it boiled down to this pair or the V-MODA LP which is also a fantastic set.

AESTHETICS/BUILD QUALITY: This is an interesting mix - first off, the Aviators aren't very durable in my opinion. While the material itself is of good quality, I'm a little concerned by the fact that it's held together by rather slim rods which make up the frame. They don't provide any assurance that it could hold up for too long but time will answer this question. I'm optimistic and hope I'm proven wrong on my initial judgment. However, these cans look stunning to say the least. They'll draw attention - and compliments - wherever you go, rest assured (especially if you have the coloured options).

To be truly honest, I was a bit on the fence about buying these headphones. I had bad experiences with quality from Skullcandy's in-ear headphones (even the more expensive ones). I decided to give them a try because I really like the style and the color, plus the many reviews that appeared in several places. Now, I do own several brands like Bose, Beats, Sony and Seinnheiser, in many styles (in-ear, over-ear, etc.), and I consider myself a picky music listener. These are some impressions on these Aviators so far:

LOOKS: 9 -At first, it took a moment to get used to the style but, after many compliments, I wear them now with pride.
COMFORT: 8 -While they feel very soft and snug, after a couple of hours my ears start to feel hot and, since I wear glasses, they start to dig in because of the preassure (usually I do not wear headsets for that long). They are not heavy at all.
CONSTRUCTION: 7 -The Aviators look sturdy enough (stainless steel over heavy leather headband). However, the finish on the earcups and the golden finish of the head support make me nervous. They look very prone to scratching. The support wiring for the headband feels like it would not take much bending. Only time (and care) will tell. The Mic3 cord is made of a nylon material and seems strong enough. My problem is that the cord itself creates audible feedback when rubbed againts something like your jacket. It's very annoying. The Mic3 seems made of cheap plastic, but the controls feel responsive.
PORTABILITY: 7 -These headsets come with a very nice, good quality carrying bag. The Aviators fit very snug, although it can be difficult to put them in and take them out.
