Simply Awesome,
This review is from: Skullcandy SC-BHESH07 Hesh Headphone, Black (Electronics)
For a while I had been wanting to retire my apple earbuds and, under the recommendation of many friends, I went to skullcandy. Not only do their products look cool, but they are also great quality. For me it was between the HESH and the Skullcandy SCS-SCM Skullcrusher Subwoofer Multimedia Headphones Black. Lucky for me, I had friends with each. First I tried the Skullcrushers. While the bass was excellent when the subwoofers were on (you turn it on by a switch attached to the cord), it was too overpowering and I couldn't hear the treble. For me, being a guitar player, it was heart-breaking to be able to barely hear the guitar parts and solos to my favorite songs. But, when the subwoofers were off, the bass was almost nonexistent and the cans adopted a tinny noise.
I went to my next friend and he let me try on the HESH. The first thing I noticed was the comfort of the leather pads and headband and the fact that I couldn't hear a word of what he was saying. But that didn't matter, because when I turned on a song, I was treated with a nirvana of screeching guitar distortion, booming bass, thundering drums and mellow acoustics. For the remainder of a song, my friend was inaudible under the music. Not only do they have excellent quality, but they go LOUD. The HESH also look cool with sick silver skulls on the cups and band. The moment I got home I ordered a pair of the black ones. If I had one complaint it was that the cups could not rotate 90 degrees, but then again, headphones aren't supposed to be heard by a party, thats what speakers are for. All in all, these headphones are pretty sick. If your a bass afficianado or don't care about your treble, by all means, go with the Skullcandy SCS-SCM Skullcrusher Subwoofer Multimedia Headphones Black, but realize that you won't be able to hear Clapton playing his heart out in Sunshine of Your Love. Alternatively, if you can't stand the over-the-ear style of the HESH, go with the Skullcandy SC-SBB3.5 Smokin' Earbud Black. Hopefully I helped you make your decision.

Fantastic product!,
This review is from: Skullcandy SC-BHESH07 Hesh Headphone, Black (Electronics)
These are, by far, the best headphones I've ever owned/heard/seen/head of. All I've really used before were the cheap headphones and earbuds that came with the various CD players and iPods I've owned over the years. Those "stock" headphones weren't terrible, but I noticed lots of distortion at high volumes from all of them and none of them were comfortable. The Hesh headphones are above and beyond all of those. Not only are they super comfortable and light (when I first got the box in the mail, I thought they forgot to put them in the box cuz it was so light!), but they sound GREAT. The first song I listened to through them was "This Calling" by All That Remains at full volume...and WOW...the bass is low and full, the mids are tremendously punchy, and the highs come in loud and clear. If you close your eyes while listening through these headphones it feels like you're in the front row at a concert. Listening to some of my other favorite songs, I even noticed some notes and other parts of songs that I never noticed before. And, on top of all that, they just look awesome!
While these are the best headphones I've ever head, there is one small complaint. At low volumes, the sound seems to become distant slightly. But, at high volumes, the headphones almost force the sound into your ears, so maybe the distance I'm hearing is just the lack of awesome-ness at full volume. The sound cancellation (which these headphones are pretty good at) might also contribute to the feeling of the music being far away. Minor, MINOR, complaint aside, the Hesh headphones from Skullcandy are an amazing product that not only delivers tremendous sound through a comfortable package, but also look incredibly cool while doing it. I have a good feeling that I'll be using these headphones happily for a long time to come.

I just purchased a Pintech electronic drum set and knew I need a good set of headphones. After reading many reviews and doing some research I went with the SkullCandy (was teetering between this and the AUDIO TECHNICA ATH-M30 Closed Back Dynamic Stereo Monitor Headphones.
After receiving them, I plugged them into my drum module and just loved the sound. Full, rich, clear and loud. Very comfortable. My only complaint is that the cord is only 3 feet long or so, so if you're like me and using this for e-drumming or studio work, you'll want to pick up an extension cord as well. Other than that, a great set of headphones. One funny side-note: within the package is a stencil of the SkullCandy logo which they show some pictures on where to use it, and one of them is to spray paint it on your cat. Funny!

All I can say about these headphones is: WOW!!!
I'm on my third pair of headphones this year. I've tried the cheap(ish) Panasonic phones you can get from Wal*Mart, the cheaper buds from another local supermarket, and finally... the Skullcandy Hesh. I was immediately blown away by the quality! I promised myself I'd wait a week to write a review, but I couldn't wait that long. So here it is: Pros: * Physical quality - These headphones seem to be built extremely sturdy. These phones will definately take a crash. Its all thick plastic, solid joints, and sturdy padding. * Visual style - These headphones look suuuwwweeeeeeettt!!! The pictures pretty much tell all, but they look even better in person. * Sound Quality - Ahhh yes, finally. These are the best sounding headphones I've ever laid hands on. I've tried very expensive Sony's, Koss, and Sennheiser, and these phones can keep right up with the big guys. For a $40 price tag, I am very surprised at the high quality sound. The highs are nice and crisp, and the lows fill out like no other. Cons: * Physical quality - uhhh... lets see... the cups don't collapse making them not very portable, but they don't advertise portability. and they get kinda hot.. but deal with it. just take 'em off your head for 30 seconds, and everything's fixed. * Visual style - umm... o yea... the top kinda flattens out when they're on your head... not really a big deal... at all. * Sound quality - hmm... uhh... hmmm... o heres a con... they can get soo loud that they can be heard by people about 20 ft away from you - whether this is a bad thing, you decide. I only got them this loud plugged into my computer, however in my PSP they dont get quite as loud, however they do punch (and PSPs cant push out sound wortha crap). Overall: If your split between these and some other brand for about the same price (and your into this style)... get these. Shut up and get them!! Tech specs: Driver.............50mm magnet type........NdFeB frequency range....20Hz-20Khz impedance..........32 ohms max imput power....100 mW cable type.........OFC cable lenght.......3 M plug type..........3.5mm gold plated accessory..........3.5>6.3mm adapter [...]

I bought these on sale for $25 and they are the best set of headphones I've ever had. The sound quality is amazing, and you won't have to worry about turning the volume up because they are loud. They fit comfortably and have lots of movement in order to accomodate any head.
They are a bit smaller than I anticipated, and the cord is on the thin side, but overall they are great.

I did not buy these from Amazon, I had some Best Buy gift cards and choices were limited from their stock, so I ended up buying these headphones, regrettably.
When I received them, I was excited to try them out. However, disappointment set in very fast. For something so seemingly stylish, these headphones are ugly. They are big, cumbersome, and the band on the top is probably 1/2" thick and looks awful when worn. The next thing I immediately noticed upon trying them on is that these headphones are TIGHT! They are much, much too tight. Wearing these headphones for more than 10 minutes resulted in a visible flattened circular imprint in the hair near my ears. They got uncomfortable and reddened the skin within less than an hour. I've always used fairly cheap headphones, and only lately as I've started playing the piano, I've become more conscious of sound quality and such. I didn't expect anything amazing for $50, but the sound quality was a severe letdown compared to many of these reviews. I could only notice a slight difference between these and my old $15 Sony studio monitor headphones, in terms of quality (And those lasted longer, and were more comfortable! And to think, for a while I thought those were bad!). To make things worse, the sound tends to reverberate and echo within the cups because of how tight they are, and it blurs all the sounds.. which really got annoying. I couldn't stand playing my digital piano with these things, and opted to play with the built-in speakers instead, to the dismay of my family members. In spite of all this, I had thought "Well, at least the build quality is pretty good. They seem sturdy." Wrong again. These headphones managed to break in 2 places from just 3 weeks of routine use, no accidents or stepping on them or anything like that. At first, the fabric on the headband somehow managed to come out of the thing that was holding it in place, so the foam filler in there started to hang out as well. That I could have dealt with.. but in the third week, to my utter amazement, they began to develop a crack on the plastic that supported the right cup. Well, they naturally snapped with a couple more days of use. These headphones were so ridiculously tight that the plastic cracked in just 3 weeks of normal use. I was relieved, though.. because it gave me a proper reason to get my money back for this piece of junk. I don't like giving 1 star reviews, but in this case, it is absolutely appropriate. The sound is mediocre, the build quality is cheap, they look awful (And that was supposed to be their forte!), they mess up your hair and leave you looking awful even after you take them off, the cord is too short, and they are bulky and uncomfortable. There is not a single word of praise I have for these headphones. Avoid them like the plague. I have since ordered some Sennheiser HD 555s and am hoping to finally own some quality headphones when they arrive on Thursday.

I got these after the left ear on my px100s blew out. The pxs lasted me more than two years but it was time for a new pair, so seeing the half decent reviews on this site, I went and bought the hesh.
these headphones are huge and aren't comfortable on the ear. the pads feel like they aren't even padded. when you put them on it feels like you're putting two huge cheerios on your ears, except that they're super stale cheerios that don't break. instead, they squeeze your head and give you a headache because the top band is too tight. i'm so happy with the px100s and so unhappy with this (the difference in sound is ridiculous...) that i'm going to ditch these (give them away or something.. to someone with a TINY head) and buy myself another one of these. check THESE reviews. Well Worth The Price,

I listen to music 90% of my day, even when sleep...so it was necessary for me to get the perfect headphones for my iPawd. I searched for Bose right away but the price scared me away a bit...someone mentioned to me Skullcandy and I've been hooked ever since. I started out with black Skullcandy Lowriders, They still work great but a little on cheap side as far as how they're made, however if you're on the go a lot I would recommend the Lowriders because they fold up and go for around $30 while still having GREAT sound. I stepped up to the black Hesh07 model and I couldn't be happier. They're made more sturdy (although these do not fold up), fit me perfectly, and the sound is AMAZING...not to mention they look groovy too. These unlike the Lowrider model, come with in-line volume and carrying bag. The dome cups literally fit to your head and you will not hear any outside noise...even when i pause the music i can barely hear anything outside of these phones. Skullcandy has a lifetime warranty so, if for any reason something goes wrong...u can always ship them back and get a new pair with no hassle...customer service is great. You can go out and get those overpriced headphones if you are concerned about sound quality but I suggest you save your money and go with these babies, the sound can easily be compared to top of the line phones.

I purchased these headphones and have no complaints. I listen to music 24/7 and these endure the test of time by sound quality and comfort. The bass is excellent; clear, concise, but not too loud and overpowering. The treble couldn't be better! They look sexy, sound is great, and last forever. If Hana Lee likes them, you will definitely like them.

This review is from: Skullcandy SC-HESH Headphones (Electronics)
First off, these things are nowhere near as nice as they look in the pictures. They're kinda small. The cups on these headphones are so small, in fact, that even those people with average sized ears will find themselves having to tuck their ears inside the cups to get a proper seal, making these headphones just a bit uncomfortable for anyone except a small child to wear.
As for construction, these headphones are padded well enough, however, the plastic looks to be of such cheapish quality that you'd expect to see "Fisher Price" written on top of the headband instead of the skullcandy logo that's there. I'm talking seriously low quality plastic here. It's like a fast food menu, the pictures look awesome compared to what you actually get! Worse, the TECH SPECS I've seen listed in another review here are NOT completely accurate. THESE ARE THE TECH SPECS AS LISTED DIRECTLY ON THE HEADPHONE PACKAGING ITSELF: Driver dia. (speaker): 50mm Magnet type: NdFeB Frequency Range: 100 - 18000 Hz Impedence: 32 ohms Max input power: 100mW Cable type: OFC Cable length: 3M Plug Type: 3.5mm gold plated Accessory: 3.5 > 6.3mm adapter However, that last spec is absolutely wrong. THESE HEADPHONES, AS SHIPPED, DO NOT INCLUDE ACCESSORIES AT ALL!! This means you DO NOT get the 3.5mm to 6.3mm stereo adapter that it says is included. You ALSO DO NOT get the travel bag either that the product description says is included. Which leads me to another thing concerning the tech specs - look closely at the frequency range. Most headphones average 20 - 20000 Hz. The packaging for these headphones list the frequency range for these headphones at 100 - 18000 Hz. And yes, after listening to these headphones, that does sound about right... my $20 pair of Koss headphones delivers DEEPER and LOUDER BASS than these headphones do, 50mm speakers or not. All in all, I am pretty disappointed with these headphones. And I am especially disappointed with Amazon for allowing the description for this product to contain false information (having accessories listed that are not included even though it is stated quite clearly that they should be). |
