Review

"...a seat-of-your-pants roller coaster ride that grabs everything in its path." - Publishers Weekly

"...a zany battle royale from start to finish." - Newsarama

From the Back Cover

In this volume- Mysterious cargo, frolicking fish, scary monsters, food fights, strange onomatopoeia, pirates aplenty and... the secret of the gun!

If you love fantasy, action-comedy or a touch of black-hearted violence, then SKULLKICKERS is the book for you!

This book is for Teen Readers 13+ and includes the following - Alcohol use, comic mischief, and cartoon violence. And by 'Violence' we mean: intense fisticuffs, tentacle stabbing, comedy blood squirts, horse hoof stomping, squishy eye poking, gun fire, drowning and a good ol' pie in the face. Woot!

I have enjoyed the Skullkicker comics since the first issue. Someone once described it as 'a 12 year old kids D&D campaign' and I would agree, but in a good way. Fun characters, interesting story and great artwork. If you like a good tongue and cheek fantasy story this is for you.

Love this series mainly because it preys on so many of the tropes that fans of the fantasy genre and fans of the dungeons & dragons series of tabletop games. In this issue we finally begin to unravel the mystery of Rex and where he really came from. The typical punchy dialog and ridiculous circumstances Rex and Rolf find themselves can be found again in volume 3. Loved this one, can't wait for the next TPB!

This is a great series. Little bit of a new direction what with the amount of bantering by the narrators and pirate theme, but holds up to the previous installments as far as quality and style and builds on them as well.
