5.0 out of 5 stars Skunkful Good Time :), November 14, 2008
This review is from: Skunk Fu: The Art of Rivalry (DVD)
I am so glad that a DVD is coming out- my kids LOVE this show and have to drop everything to watch when it comes on. Now we can watch on OUR schedule. :)
These are really funny. Clever and humorous to keep them interested, but the episodes all teach some sort of life lesson, which isn't a bad thing!
I'm definitely picking up both of these!

5.0 out of 5 stars Been waiting for this, November 17, 2008
This review is from: Skunk Fu: The Art of Rivalry (DVD)
My sister and I have been waiting for this show to come to DVD for quite awhile now and it is quite a pleasure to be able to watch some of our favorite episodes whenever we please.

Simply put the flash animation in this show is exemplary, setting a high standard for other animation studios that use flash. The plots of each episode are generally thought out very well and serves as a very good start for a show in its first season. Characters are fun and engaging and have enough development to be unique and interesting individuals. Overall a great show and a great example that flash animation does not need to look cheap.

About the DVD itself, features are very basic with the only extra features being trailers included for other products. Six episodes are offered altogether: The Art of Rivalry, the Art of Influence, the Art of Strategy, the Art of Turtle Watching, the Art of Tunneling, and the Art of Being a Pebble. Overall, a pretty good mix of episodes that should please most fans and those unknown to the series.

While features are scant, there seem to be some nice little tweaks to the episodes themselves. Firstly, the intro sequence song has been replaced with the European version which will be a boon for some and a disappointment for others. Secondly, the episodes run unedited in their entirety, so for those familiar with the episodes you might see content that was cut due to time concerns. Mind you the extra footage is not significant and can be rather subtle at times, but it is nice to see and seems to make the episodes flow a little better than their television counterparts. For instance speech as well as some scenes seem a little soother and more natural as a result, at least in my opinion.

Overall, it was a good purchase. While lacking in features, what is there is put together nicely and offers some good episodes. Needless to say I look forward to the next DVD release.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Couldn't Believe It Myself When I Saw It, October 9, 2011

This review is from: Skunk Fu: The Art of Rivalry (DVD)
I thought cartoons were very poorly done, until this masterpiece came along and changed the game for all of cartoons everywhere. Skunk Fu is the best cartoon I have ever seen, and probably the best TV show ever. This is the new standard in which all cartoons must have: no pathetic random humor, no SpongeBob-esque animation, and the best part: we have some likeable characters! Believe it or not, Skunk Fu has three-dimensionality in its characters! It was so good in fact, that God told a little company called N-Circle to put out a DVD entitled The Art of Rivalry.

If anyone is wanting the episodes, I have them for you, and here are my opinions on the episodes:

- The Art of Rivalry (5 stars)
This episode is what got Skunk Fu started, so everything is good about it.

- The Art of Turtle Watching (5 stars)
Although some of the humor falls flat, this is a very good episode.

- The Art of Being A Pebble (5 stars)
I like Skunk in the beginning of this episode.

- The Art of Tunneling (5 stars)
My favorite episode on this DVD. Although a little flat in some areas, the argument scene is well executed, and the jokes are actually relate-able and hilarious.

- The Art of Influence (5 stars)
I forgot this episode even existed, but when I saw it, I loved it.

- The Art of Strategy (4.5 stars)
I used to hate this episode, but now it's better than I interpreted it as. Although the episode could not have just revolved around the fighting scene.

Hope this list and my opinions helps.

MY FINAL OPINION ON THE SHOW:
I rarely ever watch a fast-paced cartoon that is so enjoyable and free of any of the garbage I see on TV now. It's sad it got cancelled. It just comes to show that SpongeBob, Flapjack, Adventure Time, Fairly Odd Parents, The Buzz on Maggie, and other lifeless cartoons are ruining every good show in existence. Cartoon Saloon, work on some new episodes, and do NOT mess up like other shows have in the past.

For more on my opinion, look at my reviews for The Art of Monkey Launching and The Art of Kunf Fruit for more good Skunk Fu episodes.
