With a name like skwoosh and "gel" in the title, I was expecting something much, well, squishier. I was sorely (literally) disappointed. This pad gave no more padding than a folded towel! I returned it immediately. I assure you, if you're looking for padding, this is NOT going to please you! I searched under Home and Garden, picked a great "Thick Garden Kneeling Pad" and am thrilled at 1/3 the price.
******Update****** I wanted to give huge props to Amazon for great customer service! Speedy return process, prompt credit to my card, really great customer service - lacking in today's society, but really evident at Amazon!

What it's good for, what it's not....,
By Mufkins (Sunny SoCal) - See all my reviews

I would like to point out what I think is the reason for the discrepancy in the reviews of this product. First of all, I mostly row (in a single scull) but sometimes I erg (on a Concept 2 ergometer, aka "rowing machine".) And I do own this product, which I purchased from a rowing website.
Some of the people who have reviewed this product row on water, and some erg on a machine. The people who erg tend to like the pad, and when I erg I like it too - the Concept 2 seat is kind of hard. And it seems as though the people who row (ie. on water) do not like the pad in the boat, and for me, I don't either. I wear quick-dry compression pants, which tend to be sort of slick, and so my rear slides around a little on the Skwoosh seat. The boat seat has two holes where one's "sit bones" go, which tends to alleviate pressure. I like the holes. If you are using the pad, the holes in the seat are covered up, plus for me, I don't feel connected to the boat if I'm using the pad. And if you row with much pressure, you will rise up a little off the seat during the drive, so feeling connected is important, in my opinion. Bottom line: I like the pad for the Concept 2, I do not like the pad when I am rowing (ie. on the water.) It appears that that is the consensus among the reviewers.

give it a chance,

initially i was not terribly happy with the cushion as it didnt seem to provide much relief at the expense of changing my position in the boat somewhat. however, following repeated trials i decided that for me what the cushion does is just different from what i expected it to do. again, for ME, the pad isnt that much more comfortable than my bare seat but if i row for 1.5 hour with bare seat and my butt starts aching there is no going back, my butt will hurt all the way home no matter what i do. if i row for 1.5 hour with the pad i just have to lay down in the boat and take pressure off for a few minutes and i am good to go. so i give two thumbs up.
