Little Wing,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Sky Is Crying (Audio CD)
This cut of Hendrix' "Little Wing" is, by my account, the absolute pinnacle of electric blues guitar. There is no other recording so beautiful, so masterfully executed so sweetly rendered in all of rock and blues.

Hear Stevie play like the guitar God that he is.,

The Sky is Crying is the Cd to buy if your an SRV fan or just a music fan. This album contains some mind blowing riffs at an unreal speed. The title song shows the influence of Albert King on SRV. With the bending of the strings you can almost see Stevie's facial expression. Empty Arms is an incredibly fast song with a great solo in the middle. You wonder how his finger can move so fast on the neck and with such accuracy. Jimi Hendrix would have been proud to hear Stevie's cover of Little Wing. The song "May I have a Talk with You" can get anyone to feel the tension that comes with Stevie's playing. In the instrumental "So Excited", Stevie diplays his amazing speed and awesome feel for the guitar. I tried once to play this song but it was impossible. Nobody can jam like Stevie could. And the last song on the album, "Life by the Drop" shows a softer more sensible side to Stevie. The walking rhythum on the 12-string accustic is great. Listening to Stevie's voice you can hear his soul singing. The Sky is Crying is a great cd for anyone. I

I started with Couldn't Stand The Weather and I was hooked....BIGTIME! This man is immense....The Sky is Crying...and so am I Stevie! Rest in peace my sweet brother! To not have this CD in your collection is a SIN. I repeat...A SIN! The Sky Is Crying; Little Wing; Chitlins; Life By The Drop...Whether his tunes are original or not is irrelevant! The man can sing, play, inspire like nothing I've ever heard! When he was down, his music was still better than most on a good day! My heart and soul belong to this man and his music. He lived it, bled it, IS IT! BUY IT! I cry when I think back in 87 that I turned down a pair of concert tix because I thought they were too much! Oh how foolish I was. I will go to my grave regretting that decsion! That's all! RIP Stevie...I LOVE YOU MAN! Forgive me!

He is at the peak,

I am so glad that his brother could get this album together for release. The liner notes were bittersweet. There are two music tragedies that make me cry when I think of them; John Lennon and SRV. Just like the Gettysburg address was perfect in every word used, Little Wings is perfection in notes used. Every note is a plaintive cry for love and acceptance. Reaching down in the dirt is Chittlins con Carne. I love to wallow in it. The balance of the takes are biographical in their sincerity.

I'm not a critic, and I don't presume to know what other people would or would not like. All I know is what I like, and the way he makes his guitar cry.... well, it's just one of the best.
