This review is from: Sky Full of Promise (the Coltons:Commanche blood) (Paperback)
While the writing is not awful, the story was flat. The plot was thin--the premise that was keeping the two main characters together was not very believable. The author tries to convince the reader that a man who treats his mother well is a good man worth keeping, but I actually felt that Dom was cowed by his mother in a way that is not very heroic at all. When the revelations come near the end, Sky is actually the one who has to explain Dom's actions to his mother while he wrings his hands. How unmanly is that? The "crisis" that finally convinces both of them of their love for each other felt contrived and phony. His mother acted more like a Stepford wife than the gritty immigrant she's supposed to be. Cliche little one-liners were tossed around like confetti. And most of all, this book suffered from a severe lack of passion! No real love scenes. The couple shared a bed for a whole week without so much as touching.
