I'm wary of europeans playing Indian music and raga fusion. It usually sounds fake. But, not this! It's a balance of East and West that works, and transmits a genuine expression of the heart. It has variety, sophistication and surprise.

A different flavor compared to his previous works,

I purchased this album in Bombay, along with Mudra, and I noticed that both albums had a lot in common. You'll notice a lot more use of keyboards, thanks to his collaboration with Manish Vyas. My favorite track is the title track - Sky Kisses Earth. Starts off with harmonious voices blended with sitar and santoor and soon the beats kick in... like i said, a new flavor! However, his previous albums like Desert Visions and Hamsafar still remain unsurpassed as far as Im concerned, which is why I give this album a 4.

Prem Joshua's "Sky Kisses Earth" is a profoundly sensual album. I first heard the opening track on Putumayo World Music Hour's Earth Day celebration. Prem Joshua is a highly underrated New Age artist. His music is incredibly mystical and erotic, perfect for a night of love or contemplation.
"Sky kisses Earth" is a meditative piece, bringing Heaven to Earth. It's a 13 minute long contemplative journey. One can imagine the great winds pouring down from the skies on a summer afternoon, the sky exhaling. "Remember this!" is a percussive piece, calling for attentive awareness. "Dakini" is a 12 minute ode to the sky dancing goddesses of Tibetan Buddhism. It celebrates the feminine. "Night Rain" evokes a gentle downpour. "The Seventh Eclipse" is more hushed and sober. It evokes the entwining of the sun and the moon in a loving embrace. The closing piece, "Earth kisses Sky", brings the Earth Heavenward. One can imagine the vast expanses and mesas of New Mexico, where the earth seems to be part of the sky. "Sky kisses Earth" is perfect for a romantic evening,and/or one of contemplation. As Prem Joshua's Tantric album, he expertly melds the mystical with the earthly, the carnal with the heavenly. Let the music carry you to ecstasy!

Blissful Fusion Music,

Sky Kisses Earth (1999) is a splendid collaborative effort led by Prem Joshua. The title song, Sky Kisses Earth, is a moving fusion tune -- all 13:29 of it! Actually, the whole album is unique in its ability to mesh sitar, flutes, santoor, keyboards, and tabla. This is an uplifting undertaking and provides the listener with a pleasant, blissful melding of "East meets West" sounds -- the disc is primarily instrumental, with some chanting. If you like this disc, check out Dance of Shakti, also by Prem Joshua.

Joshua is a pioneer in the field of world music, creating a synthesis of east and west. His music is perfect for both meditation and celebration. Sky Kisses Earth is a ticket to the ancient Tantric temples of India.

A good fusion of the light classical Indian music with Western music. The musicians have produced a CD that retains the individual characteristics of each form without sounding forced. Very melodious.

Save your money. In the genre, this is at the low end. No variety, no dynamics, no creativity. Actually irritating to listen to at points.
