What do ya' do when your a top composer, hired to make hard jazz funk for crime dramas like Bullitt and Dirty Harry, and someone asks you to score a film about parachuting, that's right bub, parachuting.
That is what Lalo Shafrin does on the soundtrack to Sky Riders. This is not the heavy dose of either of the above soundtracks, or so many others. But it is Shafrin, creating an almsot carnival music that floats in the sky and then down, down, softly to the ground. Lots of bouncy atmostpheres and time signatures. This is NOT how you want to start with Shafrin, but for fans of the master who want a shift, Sky Riders is it. |
