This is a large book covering the first B-24 unit in the 8th AF. The book covers all of the support requirements behind the aircrews as well as the aircrews and missions. My only complaint is the use of the word "infamous" to describe the heroic mission of August 1, 1943. The mission was FAMOUS the Nazi regime was "infamous" but this is a common misuse of words by authors who don't understand the true success of the mission. The 389th BG destroyed the capacity of the Nazis to produce high octane aviation fuel and this severely limited the ability of the Luftwaffe to intercept the high altitude bombers when the B-24s leveled the Nazi homeland.

I was so glad I found this book and could give it to my Uncle who flew in the 389th BG. This was a very comprehensive book with many pictures and personal accounts. It even happen to have a picture of his plane. Couldn't have been a better gift.
