There's something special about this band-,

These guys are very talented. They write pop songs of their own brand, new and different, but familiar and accessible. One of the best bands you've never heard of, I promise.

Fire When Ready has a very unique sound. This is one of my favorite cds in the last few years. With so many bands out there who sound just alike, its good to see that someone is willing to be a little different. The guitar work on this cd really stands out in my opinion.

These Guys Will Become Your Favorite,

Review by Cory Rennison:Fire When Ready is a fairly new name to the scene, but already they've opened for underground favorites such as Fear Before the March of Flames and Bear Vs. Shark. With one listen to their debut album, As the Sky Stared Down With Angry Clouds, it's very apparent that one day the aforementioned bands could be opening for Fire When Ready. The best way to categorize these guys would be Indie rock. There's a perfect combination of laid back rock, with one of the guitarists playing the rhythmic half, and the other guitarist seems to play an ongoing solo, but it isn't exactly what you'd consider "shredding". Call it what you may, it certainly gives the band a sound like no other, and adds a whole new degree of catchiness that you never knew existed until now. While most of the time we all forget about the bass, in Fire When Ready's case they're bassist actually plays more than the root notes and compliments what the rest of the band is doing by adding deep undertones to bring a darker side to the upbeat music. The vocals are perfect; you won't find anybody crying on this album, but instead some truly great singing with some lyrics that will probably stick with you long after the CD stops playing. While some might call some of the band's lyrics "emo", which is partially true, this band is far more than another MTV pop punk band trying to pose as a band with true emotion. The fact is, after listening to this album, you can hear that these guys put not only lots of emotion into their lyrics, but also an equal amount into their music, and far surpass the ridiculous genre of "emo". Whatever these guys did on this record, they certainly grabbed my attention and As the Sky Stared Down With Angry Clouds could quite possibly be one of the best albums this year from the indie genre.
