About the Author
Jim Bailey flew fighters throughout World War II, from the Battle of Britain through Gibraltar and the Anzio beach-head to the landing in the south of France. During his lifetime, Jim Bailey also published a collection of poetry and works of anthropology.

That was when he signed up to become a fighter pilot in the Royal Air Force. Baily flew British fighter planes in aerial combat missions that ranged from the Battle of Britain, through the action at Gibraltar, and the Anzio beach-heads, to the landing in the South of France. Its an Ok book about a Beaufighter and Defiant pilot during WW2. Not the best read on the subject but entertaining.

I want only to make the point that of the two reviews posted for this book, one is completely phony. I was interested in buying this book and noted that of the two reviews, one was 5-stars and the other 1-star with scathing comments. So I checked out the 5-star "Midwest Book Review" author. I went through more than 300 pages of his reviews (with at least 10 books per page) and discovered that he rates EVERYTHING 5-stars. He might have tens of thousands of reviews; I stopped looking after 310 pages of reviews. It is disingenuous and deceptive for Amazon to include the reviews of a shill like Midwest without some kind of warning. Be warned.... COL Tom Pool
