5.0 out of 5 stars A great Chart
This lunar chart is quite complete and provides a sturdy resource that can be reliably used outside for lunar viewing. The chart has an index of various lunar objects and is arranged in a manner that is useful.

3.0 out of 5 stars Laminated moon map
I recommend Sky and Telescope's laminated moon map for observation with binoculars or without visual aids. I recommend the more detailed Field Map of the Moon for use with a telescope.

Bought the Sky & Telescope Laminated Moon map from Sky and Telescope. For the low cost its good enough for field work with my 20 inch Obsession telescope. I get lots of dew on everything so the map being laminated is a big plus. It has good enough detail. I have the Rukl 1st edition Moon Atlas ( Even better is the 2nd revised edition but INMO too expensive), a masterpiece 5 star but its expensive and non laminated , just for inside research and then comparison.

The low cost Sky & Telescope Laminated Moon map is good for outdoor use. I'm sure there are much better ones for outdoor use at higher prices.

For inside research and comparison the Rukl Moon Atlas is 5 star plus a good investment.

3.0 out of 5 stars What You Get, August 12, 2011

The product description is somewhat insufficient, so let's be clear what you get. It is an 11 x 11.5 inch bifold laminated picture of the moon with major albedo features ("oceans/seas") indicated with black text. Two hundred and eighty other features are marked with yellow numbers, and the Apollo landing sites are marked with orange alphanumeric keys. You need to reference the Numerical Index to figure out what feature you are looking at. I'm sure this must be good for serious telescopic observing, but it wasn't what I expected, so on the basis of insufficient product description I gave it three stars. This chart would be very useful to a serious observer, less so for people who are trying to familiarize themselves with lunar topography.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very practical Moon map, December 1, 2011

At just the right size for convenient use and legibility this map is very handy in actual use at the telescope.

I have used this map with telescopes ranging from 3 1/2-inch Maksutovs to 10-inch refractors and even people unfamiliar with the moon or the use of the telescope will soon be comfortable with it.

If you couple it with the Field Map of the Moon (much larger and more cumbersome but more detailed) you will have all you need to explore the moon.

It just works well!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good map of the moon., May 22, 2011

The moon map has come in handy on my night star gazing. The only suggestion I would have to change it is to label the sites in English instead of its originial Latin. It is sturdy and can handle getting wet or dirty with just a wipe off of a cloth.
