Superb solo album that is an instant classic.,

The spirit of Syd Barrett and Nick Drake live in this amazing recording. Off the drink and bored, Graham Coxon has produced a simple yet beautiful album which updates the pastoral influences of Syd and Nick with a punkish edge. It is a delicate sound that repays repeated playings and is a refreshing update to the more layered Blur recordings.

Graham Coxon goes solo!,

Being a long time Blur fan, I had always wanted Graham to sing a song of his own, and I got that with "Your So Great". After that, I wanted an entire album - and he came through with "Sky is too High". (I couldn't wait for the American Caroline Records release, so I ordered from Japan!) The album is a little Dinosaur Jr, a little Sonic Youth and a little Sentridoh, and a lot of emotion. This album is raw and uncommercial...it's what music should be. With "Sky is too High", Graham Coxon proves that not only is he one of the most talented guitar players, he is also a talented singer and songwriter as well. For anyone who loved "Your So Great", this album is much more, and a must have! Now I just have to wait for his solo American tour!!

This is a decent enough album--I can't say it exactly blows my mind, but given that it was more or less thrown together in a week, it's not too bad. Graham doesn't have a great voice (there's a reason Damon does most of Blur's singing...), and some of the lyrics are sorta simplistic, but all in all I was pleasantly surprised. And besides, it's a federal law that all Blur fans must own it.

Damon who?,

Great solo record from the workhorse behind blur. I dare someone else to try to play his lead guitar parts while singing dead-on harmony. He's more than "the guitarist" now, he's the Author.

Solo project from blur guitarist, great work. I don't know much about music theory but Graham Coxon writes distinct chords and voicings that are catchy to the ear. Track number 3 is very unique in that he sings alongside an acoustic guitar and random strikes from an outdoor windchime! Track 1,3, and 7 are my favorites now. Great work and solo effort by a very talented abstract guitarist!
