The Sky Caddy Breeze was introduced with a lot of flawed software. Every time I try to sync I have to go through update after update. The first time I tried to register the Breeze I had to wait over 1 hour for all of the updates to get completed. Downloading courses means more updates before the courses are downloaded. The initial operating system that shipped with the Breeze must have been a beta version. I brought the Breeze because it was less expensive than the regular Sky Caddy models. The problem is you have to pay for all the software that is included in the $299 version. So after you pay $229 for the Breeze and buy the software you are up to the $299 version. Save yourself a lot of hassle and buy the regular model.

Been a Skycaddie user and customer for over 7 years. Owned 2 (one for me and one for my wife)SG4's and decided to trade them in to Skygolf on their Skycaddie Breeze Promotion. Received the 2 new units in good time but started having a problem on the first use of my wife's unit with the backlight. Does not operate as the directions state. Called in to Customer support. Customary 30 min. wait for a live person. After getting the person I explained the issue. The person had absolutely no knowledge of the unit, and he was suppose to be a tech person? His only resolution was to send another unit. I called again the next day to another "Tech person" after the same issue occured on my unit's first use. I felt that their had to be some issue of a setting or something other than "the unit is broken". This person was more knowledgeable and insisted he knew the fix. He wanted me to go out to a hole on my course ( I live close by) and test his theory of a fix. I said that it had taken me another 40 min. wait period to talk to him and I did not want to do it again after testing his theory. He said no problem "I will call you back in 30 minutes". I went out and tested his fix, and of course it did not work, so I came back to wait for his call. You guessed it NO CALL. I called again and 55 min later got a third person. After going over the whole issue with him he stated that the person who was suppose to call me back was sorry but got tied up and would now call me right back. You guessed it again never heard from him. I will be trying to find some Skygolf upper management next week but in the meantime I will be submitting product reviews to as many sites as I can (between rounds of golf of course) I am retired and I do have the time. It is what us consumers can do to be heard.

I have been a SG5 user for some time. I was excited to get the Breeze with the bigger screen and sleek look. I took it out of the box and played right away. The GPS locked quickly and the device moved from hole to hole easily. I really missed the green shape and the ability to move the pin, so I bought the first feature pack and now the Breeze performs like my SG5 only better. I like that it stores 50 courses and that it has preloaded basic courses available. The battery was good for the whole round. I love my new Breeze!

The trial offer (30 days) was good, but then the problems started. I synced my sky caddie breeze four times per their instructions with no results. I had three on line sessions with the technicians that did the same thing I did. After each session they assured me my breeze would work, each time it did not work. After two weeks of trying to get it to work and update after update and waiting over 25 minutes on several calls to talk to a customer care rep. Finally after talking to a person, they agreed to send me a new one. A week later I get a voice mail that numerous customers were experiencing the same issue and my breeze would now work if I updated it again. I spent over 8 hours with on-line technical support and "customer care". When I asked for an upgrade, I was denied. My friend bought a "cheap" model that has no yearly membership and no head aches. I wish I would have never bought the sky caddie breeze.

I had used original Skycaddie when it first came out, back when there were few course available. Then I quit playing for 6-7 years, and when I started back, tried using smartphone apps for distance and score/stat-keeping. However, smartphone apps have 2 big problems:

1) Yardages: are not always accurate, since they seem based on satellite mapping. I found a few holes where they were consistenly off by 20 yards or so. Also, the front/middle/back were based on the front/back of the green in line with the center fairway. If you were significantly off-line, that front yardage meant little for carrying a front-to-side bunker. Skycaddie yardage are based on your present line, so you know that front yardage is to carry that bunker. Also helpful when hitting long approaches over doglegs.

2) Using gps and having the display on bright to be able to read in the sunlight drained the smartphone battery quickly. I used iPhone, Nokia, and Samsung, and had the same problem on all of the them. I have to carry 1 or 2 spare batteries to charge the phone while playing, making it much bulkier to carry.

With Skycaddie, although you have to pay a subscription, you know you have good data. I chose the Breeze because it was the cheapest device to get hole yardages, not just front//center/back green yardages. So I can see what I need to hit from a tee to get to a dogleg, or designed layup on the hole (short of a creek, short or carry a bunker, end of fairway, etc). It makes shot planning much easier.

I would give any Skycaddie 5 stars, except on this device, the screen is hard to read with its backlight off in bright sunlight.
