WHIRLWIND is of the Air element and funny looking initially; she runs like a horse and yet has these huge wings that she can't use till an upgrade latter on. She shoots a rainbow out of her horn at her targets and slaps her wings to produce an electrified cloud to damage her foes. Her wingspan is a little wider than Sonic, so she can be a bit challenging to maneuver around tight places while flying. I have found her soul gem upgrade to be invaluable when playing with two people. Usually there is food at a battle scene, but not always enough for two players. My son and I make sure that whoever has Whirlwind eats first because she can heal the other player by shooting her rainbows at them. She is also unique in that she can shoot at targets on higher ground than her or over a fence (her rainbows arch up and then come down) which is helpful in eliminating targets before they can get you in many situations. The air element characters in general seem pretty strong upgraded, but she can heal others along the way.

I imagine...HER ABILITY TO HEAL OTHERS..will be INVALUABLE to have in the beginning of SKYLANDERS GIANTS.. set to release in OCTOBER 2012! Current figures will still work within the new game too! Whirlwind is getting a re-pose for GAINTS that will work in both versions of Skylanders. I've seen a white variant picture also.

Whirlwind (an Air Skylander) is one of several dragon hybrids in Skylanders, dragon and unicorn to be specific. According to her backstory she is initially shunned by both dragons (who dislike her horn) and unicorns (who are unimpressed with her majestic wings) but upon soaring up into the clouds she learned to harness her tempest abilities and save both races from being hunted, thusly earning their respect.

Speed: Average
Whirlwind, I think, gallops pretty quickly. Once equipped with flight she moves nice and fast, although the massive size of her wings sometimes makes it a little tough to get around corners in a jiff.

Primary Attack:
The Rainbow of Doom, while very effective (and generally badass), isn't good for a quick hit as it archs up before coming down on your enemies. I usually attack long range, however, so it works great for me. The ability to team it up with the secondary attack works great when enemies are crowding you, and the Rainbow Singularity is great for large and slow moving enemies (such as the Arkeyan Hammahs.) I don't have anyone to play co-op with, but I bet the healing properties of the rainbow will come in handy during battle mode.

Secondary Attack:
The Tempest Cloud is a wonderful attack for when enemies get a little too close for comfort. They can be fired off quickly, and if you're being chased leaving a trail of them in your wake really gives enemies a shock (no pun intended.)

Overall:
Personally, she's one of my favorite characters, and doesn't need a whole lot of leveling up to deal some damage. As throughout most of this franchise we see lots and lots of normal dragons, the dragon hybrids are a neat addition to the lineup of playable characters.
