5.0 out of 5 stars Us Americans can't hold a candle to Chinese cinema!
Think of Mission: Impossible crosses paths with a super kicky cool Jet Li movie. What do you get? Another hit from the master of directors, Wilson Yip and his trusty sidekick actor, Jordan Chan. The story is basically a small group of theives doing some cool espionage scenes and using keen gadhets for 90 minutes. Also, on another note, Wilson can make some of the most...

2.0 out of 5 stars Below Average Hong-Kong Film. And Shu Qi Is Wasted
First, let me say that I watched this Hong-kong action film, which is basically copying the 'Mission Impossible' senario, simply because it features cute Shu Qi, the kidnapped heroine of 'Transporter.' Maybe your DVD cover jacket shows the image of her, as if she is the integral part of the caper team; as if she is the leading lady of the film.

2.0 out of 5 stars Below Average Hong-Kong Film. And Shu Qi Is Wasted, January 11, 2005
This review is from: Skyline Cruisers - Special Edition (DVD)
First, let me say that I watched this Hong-kong action film, which is basically copying the 'Mission Impossible' senario, simply because it features cute Shu Qi, the kidnapped heroine of 'Transporter.' Maybe your DVD cover jacket shows the image of her, as if she is the integral part of the caper team; as if she is the leading lady of the film.

Wrong! Though the film is about the four professional thieves (including Leon Lai, Jordan Chan, Sam Lee & Michelle Saram) who attempt to steal a new medicine from a big company, and they are all cool or goofy or likable enough, Shu Qi doesn't appear on your small screen until 40 or 50 minutes after the film started. Yes, she is just a support, and given a comparatively small role.

You might ask me then, 'How about the film itself?" Not good enough in spite of many gadgets and kung-hu actions, all obviously helped by stunts. They are just OK, or slightly below that, fatally lacking the speed or the imagination of the first-rate Hong-kong actions like 'So Close.' And the film's humor is very lame and feeble.

I give two stars for Shu Qi and the good use of the location in Malaysia and Australia. Otherwise, it's a cosy but ineffective entry from the fading Hong-kong film industry.

The story is basically a small group of theives doing some cool espionage scenes and using keen gadhets for 90 minutes. Also, on another note, Wilson can make some of the most romantic storylines to come out of non-chick flick films. I bought this movie on a whim since I had seen other movies made by the duo. I was completly satisfied with this film Iand if you are actually reading this review than I know you will like it too. See you at the Hong Kong movies.
